Edit Objects

Editing objects is a common operation on geometry. For example, when drawing a Boston map, we need to merge the South China Sea Islands into a single complex object for unified operation. Another example is when processing land changes, using the local update feature, you can update the boundary of the changed land. The product provides up to 54 commonly used editing functions, bringing great convenience for data processing.

Edit Data tab is a contextual tab that provides functions for editing objects and features on the map, bound to the map. This tab appears on the ribbon only when the currently active window in the application is a map.

The object editing group provides geometry object editing functions, all of which work when the layer is editable. Therefore, to edit geometry in a layer, the layer must be set to be editable.

Object editing functions are primarily categorized by geometry type, displayed in a dropdown menu form, following the intuitive logic of "what object to edit → what tool to use," and the tools are first categorized by the geometry type they mainly serve.

Feature Classification

Basic Editing Operations

Basic Editing Operations: Introduces several commonly used operations on the map, including copy, cut, paste, redo, undo, delete, and more.

Edit Node: Introduces how to edit the nodes of objects, including moving, deleting, adding nodes, etc.

General Editing

General editing contains common operations applicable to multiple geometry types such as points, lines, and polygons.

Line Editing

Line editing contains dedicated operations applicable only to line objects.

Face Editing

Face editing contains dedicated operations applicable only to polygon objects.

  • Boundary Trim: Draw line to modify border, select line to modify border
  • Dimension and Segmentation: Draw line to construct surface, draw surface to construct surface, Divide by Area
  • Face Relationship: Intersect, Erase, XOR
  • Hole Treatment: fill gap, Donut Polygon

Topology Editing

Topology editing contains a family of tools for dealing with topological relationships.

Type Conversion

Type conversion contains conversion tools between different geometry types.

Route Edit

Route edit contains dedicated tools for handling linear reference systems (M values).
