Resample

Function Description

The Object Editing group on the Edit Data tab provides functions to process the boundary lines of lines or regions, mainly performing resample and smoothing on the boundary lines of lines or regions.

When there are too many nodes on the boundary line of a line or region, you can use the Resample button to resample it, removing some nodes while trying to maintain the shape of the line.

  • The controls in the Object Editing group are available only when there is a selected geometry (line and region) in an editable layer in the map.
  • For the principle of resampling and description of resampling results, see: Resample Description for Linear Objects.
  • When resampling parametric curves (such as arcs, free curves, Bezier curves, B-spline curves, etc.), the curves are first converted to line segments, and then the converted line segments are resampled. Note: Parametric curves in CAD datasets do not support resampling.

Function Entry

  • Edit Data tab -> Object Editing group -> General editing -> Trimming -> Resample

Operation Instructions

  1. Set the layer where the geometry (line or region) to be resampled in the map to an editable state.
  2. Select the geometry (line or region) to be resampled. You can hold down the Shift or Ctrl key to select multiple geometries consecutively.
  3. On the Edit Data tab, in the General editing drop-down menu, click the Resample button in the Trimming group to open the Resampling Settings dialog box.
  4. In the resampling method drop-down box, select an appropriate resampling method, and enter the tolerance value in the text box to the right of Sampling Tolerance. The default value is 0.4, and this method is applied to resample the line or region.
  5. To resample geometry in other layers in the map, repeat steps 1 to 4 above.
  6. Click the OK button to resample the selected geometry.
Notes:

When multi-layer editing is enabled, users can select multiple lines and regions from multiple editable layers simultaneously to perform resample operations.
