Positioning copy

Function Description

The positioning copy function is used to copy the selected geometry (one or multiple objects) to a specified location during pasting by designating a base point as a reference point.

  • The positioning copy function is only available when geometry (including complex objects and compounds) is selected.
  • The positioning copy function supports cross-layer operations. The operation result copies the selected operation objects on each layer to the specified position on the corresponding layer.

Function Entrance

  • Edit Data Tab -> Feature Editing Group -> General editing -> Copy and transform -> Positioning Copy

Operation Instructions

  1. While the layer is editable, select one or more objects to copy.
  2. In the General editing drop-down menu of the Edit Data tab, click the Positioning Copy button in the Copy and transform group to execute the positioning copy operation.
  3. At this point, the cursor prompt says: "Please specify the base point coordinates." Click the mouse at a suitable location on the map or input coordinate values to determine the base point coordinates for the positioning copy.
  4. At this point, the cursor prompt says: "Please specify target point coordinates." Move the mouse on the map to see a real-time preview of the object to be copied (represented by dashed lines). Click the mouse at a suitable location or input specific coordinate values to finally determine the target location for the copy, completing one copy operation.

  5. If you do not wish to continue copying, right-click to end the operation. To continue copying, repeat the previous step until right-clicking to end copying.
    Note:

The attribute records of the newly generated objects are added to the end of the attribute table, and their non-system field attributes will retain the non-system field attributes of the source objects. The source objects will not undergo any changes.
