FAQ on Map

Q: Why is the map gone even though I saved it?
A: To save a map for future use, saving the map in the workspace is not enough, you still need to save the workspace.
Q: Why are the lines and text jagged?
A: You can enable the antialias text and line functions to smooth the line and text.
Q: Why are the Fixed Marker Angle and Fixed Text Angle commands in the Browse group on the Map Properties tab gray?
A: The two commands are only available to use if the Rotation in the Browse is not set to 0.
Q: Why doesn't the data in the same region overlay?
A: That is because the projections of the two datasets are not identical. To solve the problem, you can enable the dynamic projection function.
Q: Why doesn't the fill symbol in the layer change after setting the fill style?
A: The specified fill symbol will not be applied to the regions in the layer if you choose to use gradient fill. Only if you set the Gradient Mode to None in the Fill Style group on the Styles tab, regions in the layer will be rendered with the specified fill symbol.
Q: Why can't I see the outline effects of the text after I choose to display background and outline effects for the selected text?
A: You can't display the background and outline effects for text at the same time. The outline effects can be only seen when you set to transparently display the text background.
Q: Why is the color ramp not the one I specified for the thematic map last time?
A: The color ramp applied to a thematic map is not saved.
Q: When performing the region objects group operation, there exists blank area in the overlapped part, is there something missing? When the two regions have containing relation, the result is consistent with the island polygon operation, is it right?
A: The blank area is part of the results, not missing part. The display way is to help understand the shape range of the sub features before group. When the grouped features have containing relation, it will process it with the same way like island polygon generation.
Q: When using the desktop to open the map WMTS service, the deviation is particularly large, and business data can not be superimposed, how to solve?
A: This is due to the fact that different service providers are using different dpi when clipping map, the software can not fit all, you can modify a parameter in the index file. In the path Installation directory\\Bin\\Cache\\WebCache\\WMTS\\, find the corresponding folder with the service layer, continue to find the *.sci file, and then modify the value is 3.779527559055118 (96/25.4) or 2.952755905511811 (72/25.4). When you open the service again, it will be normal.
Q: The map is found to be dislocated after generating map cache or the outputing the map as a image, how should this be resolved?
A: The reason for this is usually that the map sets a fixed scale. Remove the fixed scale of the map and rebuild it.
Q: Why there are some tiny black points in the polygons when you specify the filling background is black and the line symbol is null with other parameters are default?
A: The black points appear when the rendering engine renders pixels. Solution: Set the value of DrawGeometryDeduplicateTolerance less than 0.05 which is in the SuperMap.xml file under the bin folder of product package, and then restart .
Q: The resulting map tiles lost parts of vector data as the following pictures show.
A: Generally, this situation happens on the map tiles generated from vector point data. The resulting tiles lose some markers. The method to solve the problem is to close the setting Display Complete Label in the point layer.
Q: After publishing a map with SuperMap iServer as a REST map service, parts of vector data lost when browsing the map services.
A: This question is the same as the previous question. Therefore, you can use the same solution to solve the problem.
Q: When adding image or raster data with many columns and rows on a map, it is invisible on a small scale if you didn't create image pyramids for data. How to display data normally?
A: Please create image pyramids for your data, and then add it on your map again. The map will be displayed normally.
Q: Whether the scale level of a map from Map World is the same as the global subdivision scale levels of the corresponding map from SuperMap iDesktop or not?
A: The global subdivision scale levels of a map from SuperMap iDesktop is the same as the scale level of the corresponding map from Map World. Their difference is the scale level of SuperMap iDesktop starts from L0, while Map World starts from L1.
