Drawing a Scale

Description

The Scale command allows you to insert a scale in the layout.

Basic Steps

  1. Select a map in the layout.
  2. Click Object Operations > Order group > Scale.
  3. Click in the layout window to insert a scale, drag to change the size, click again to finish.
  4. Map: The map associated with the scale.
  5. Scale Type: The Type of the scale. You can change the scale type by selecting from the Scale Type drop-down list.
  6. Scale Unit: The unit of the scale. You can change the scale unit by selecting from the Scale Unit drop-down list. The scale units provided include: Kilometers, Meters, Decimeters, Centimeters, Millimeters, Miles, Feet, Yards and Inches.
  7. Division Width: The width of each division.
  8. Divisions: The total number of divisions that compose the scale.
  9. Subdivisions: The number of of subdivisions of the left-most division. The default is 2, also the least value.
  10. Label Style: The style of the label on the scale. You can set the label style in the dialog box that shows up by clicking the Label Style drop-down arrow. To know how to set text styles, please refer to how to set text styles (You can edit the Styles tab in the Uniform Label Map dialog box).
  11. Scale Width: The width of the scale.
  12. Scale Length: The length of the scale.
  13. Bottom-left Position: The x and y coordinates of the bottom left of the scale. Values in the X and Y text boxes indicate the coordinates of the bottom left of the scale. The values change when the position of the scale changes and they cannot be modified.

Note

  1. You can only add a scale to a layout if there is a selected map in the layout and the map is not in focus.
  2. Drawing a scale is similar to drawing a geometric object.
