Ribbon area in the Work Environment Design window presents the function area of the application and all tabs constructed in the application are displayed in the area.
When the Customize window is too little, and all commands in a tab can not be displayed side-by-side, and some groups in the tab will turn into drop-down buttons and you can click any drop-down button to view its complete commands.
Ribbon is an area loading controls with certain functions, and it organizes and manages all controls by using tabs and groups.
- In the figure, the area shown in the red rectangle is Ribbon where all controls are placed in. And all controls in the area are called Ribbon control.
- Names shown in the top of Ribbon like “Start”, “Data”, “View” and so on are the corresponding tab names, and by clicking which, to open the corresponding tab page. Tab is one form that Ribbon organizes controls for organizing controls with the similar functions. As seen above, the tab “Start” is selected and controls you can see now in the Ribbon area are organized in the Start tab.
- Some controls are organized as a group like the group Browse within the orange rectangle. And each group name is displayed at the bottom of each group. The group name can indicate related functions contained in the group like in the “Workspace” group, all controls are related to workspaces.
- The group with the special button has been bound to a dialog box, and you can click on the button to set some auxiliary parameters.
In structure area of the Customize window, Under the SuperMap node the Ribbon node corresponds to the Ribbon in the preview area, and child nodes of the Ribbon node correspond to each tab and child nodes of tab nodes correspond to each group, and child nodes of group nodes correspond to each control, besides a group can also have a child group which is called box. There is a one-to-one correspondence between interface elements in Ribbon and nodes in structure area.
The node name is the name of corresponding interface element.
