Import ArcView Shape File

Introduction

ArcGIS Shapefile (Shp) is a common vector data format specific to ArcGIS. Shp is used to store spatial data and attribute data.

Functional entrances

  • Start tab > Data Processing group > Import Data.
  • In the context menu of a datasource or a dataset, select Import Dataset…
  • Toolbox > Data Import > ArcGIS > Import SHP. (iDesktopX)

Basic Steps

The following content introduces how to import Shp file.

  1. Open the dialog box Import Data by clicking on any functional entrances. In the dialog box, click on the icon button Add File, then navigating to your file and opening it.
  2. On the specific description of target datasource, result dataset, encode type, import mode, and source file information, please refer to Public Parameters for Importing Data.
  3. Resutl setting

    • Import Null Dataset: If you want to import an empty dataset, please check the checkbox.
  4. Conversion Parameters

    • Import Attributes: When checked, the attribute information will be imported when importing spatial data.
  5. After the setting, click Import to perform the operation.
