Text Template Management
Feature Description
Text templates provide a series of predefined text styles, including templates for elevation annotations, rivers, lakes, and government locations at different scales. Text templates can be applied to normal text and label thematic maps, and they also support your custom text style templates. Normal text and label thematic maps share the same set of text template resources. You can uniformly manage the template library, groups, and text templates in the "Select Style Template" window. After applying a template, you can still continue to modify the font, font size, color, and font effects.
SuperMap iDesktopX 2026 Update1 version begins to support applying text templates in label thematic maps.
Function Entry
- Styles tab -> Text Template drop-down menu -> More Templates...
- Single Symbol Label Thematic Map Properties panel -> Style tab -> Select a Text Template...
- Label Unique Value/Graduated Color Thematic Map Properties panel -> Style tab -> Style (A) button -> Select a Text Template...

- Right-click a selected text in the map -> context menu Object Style -> Layer Style panel -> Select a Text Template...

Parameter Description
- File: Used to create, import, and export template libraries.
- New Template Library: Select New Template Library to pop up the New Template Library dialog box. Enter the Template Library Name and click the Create button to create a new template library.
- Import Template Library... Imports an external template library into the root group.
- Export Template Library... Exports the currently selected template library.
- Display Method: Controls the icon display style of the template browsing area in this window. It is mainly divided into two forms: large icons, list. Click the corresponding buttons to switch the icon display style of the text style template browsing area.
- Template Library Group Management Area: Used to manage the root group, template libraries, and groups. When Root Group is selected, the content area on the right displays all text templates under the root group in the order of directories and templates. When other directories are selected, the right side displays the content within that directory. You can manage the template library and groups through commands such as create, rename, delete, copy, import, and export. For details, see: Template Library Group Management Area.
- Quick Toolbar: The top of the content area provides four quick entries: New Text Template, Import Text Template, Export Text Template, and Delete.
- New Text Template: Click the New button to create a text template with default styles in the currently located template library.
- Export Text Template: Select one or more text templates, click the Export button to export the selected text templates to a local *.xml file.
- Import Text Template: Click the Import button, browse the local directory, select the style template *.xml file, and click the Open button to import the selected template.
- Delete: Select one or more text templates in the template library browsing area, and click the Delete button to delete the selected items.
- Template Library Browsing Area: In this area, you can browse the style of each template, modify them, or create a new text style template. For details, see: Template Library Browsing Area.
- Text Style Settings Area and Preview Area: The text style settings area allows you to set the basic style of the font, including font family, font size, character height, text color, rotation angle, and background. You can also set font effects, such as bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, shadow, outline, fixed size, and transparent background. Check the corresponding options to enable the effects. Modifications made to the template are displayed in real-time in the preview area for immediate preview.
Notes:- This button is only available when there is a selected text in the text layer and the layer is in an editable state.
- When applying text templates to a unique value label thematic map or a graduated color label thematic map, you must first select the target unique value item or graduated item in the list. The text template for a uniformly graduated color thematic map applies to the entire thematic map.
- If multiple types of objects (text, geometry, etc.) are selected simultaneously in the map, the template button in the Text Style group is only available when the text layer is above the other selected object layers in the Layer Manager.
