Setting Line Layer Styles

You can style line layers in two ways via the Styles tab and the Layer Style panel.

Styles Tab

The Line Style group in the Styles tab is used to set the style of line objects in line layers and the outline style of area objects in area layers. The functions in this group are only available when the selectable layer is a line layer or an area layer.

  • Symbols

The Symbols drop-down button in the Line Style group is used to set the style of line objects in line layers or the borders of area objects in area layers.

    • Click the Symbols drop-down button to pop up the line symbol resource list. The upper part of the list displays the user's recent symbols, and the lower part provides the system default root group symbol library. Users can select symbols from the list as the symbol style for line objects in the current line layer, or as the style for borders in the current area layer.
    • Users can also click the More Symbols... button at the bottom of the line symbol resource list. In the popped-up Line Selector window, set the symbol style for line objects or area borders.
    • When a user selects a line symbol style, all line objects in the current line layer or borders in the area layer will be displayed in real-time according to the selected line symbol style.
  • Width

The combo box to the right of the Width label is used to set the line width of line objects.

    • Users can set the width of line symbols through the options given in the combo box drop-down list; or enter a value in the combo box, then press the Enter key or when the text box loses focus, the line symbol width setting will be applied.
    • The precision of the line symbol width value is 0.1, and the unit is millimeters.
    • In addition, some symbols provided in the line symbol library resource are special symbols in professional fields, and the line width is fixed; modifying the width of such line symbols is invalid.
  • Color

The color button in the Line Style group is used to set the color of line symbols in line layers.

    • Click the drop-down button to the right of the color button. Users can select a default color or customize other colors in the popped-up color panel. After determining the line color, the line symbols in the current line layer will apply the color settings.
    • After users use the Color Library for color settings, Recent Colors will be listed in the color panel.
    • In addition, some symbols provided in the line symbol library resource are special symbols in professional fields (mainly raster symbols), and the color is fixed; modifying the color of such line symbols is invalid.

Layer Style Panel

The Layer Style panel for line layers is used to set the symbol style, width, color, and symbol layer drawing method, etc. For detailed information on symbol layer drawing settings, please refer to: the symbol layer drawing documentation.
