You can set text styles through two methods: the Styles tab and the Layer Style panel. You can only set styles for selected text when there is selected text in the map and the text layer is editable.
Styles Tab
The Text Style group in the Styles tab is used to set the style of text in a text layer. The functions in this group are only available when the current layer is a text layer, the text layer is set to editable, and there is selected text.
The application provides a series of text style settings options. Users can modify the text style of one or several selected texts in the current layer by setting parameters.
The label buttons in the Text Style group are described as follows:
- The Font button sets the font of text in the text layer. The combo box dropdown list on the right side of this label control provides a variety of fonts for users to choose from, and supports adding "@" before the font in the combo box to achieve vertical display effects.
- The Font Size button sets the font size of text in the text layer. Users can either enter a numerical value for the font size or select an appropriate font size from the combo box dropdown list on the right side of this label control.
- The Bold button controls whether the font of text in the text layer uses bold. When the button is pressed, the font displays in bold; when not pressed, the font does not use bold display.
- The Italic button controls whether the font of text in the text layer uses italic. When the button is pressed, the font displays in italic; when not pressed, the font does not use italic display.
- The Stroke button controls whether the font of text in the text layer has an outline decoration. When the button is pressed, the font has an outline decoration, and the Outline Color button in the Text Style group becomes enabled. Users can click this button to set the color of the text outline in the pop-up color panel; when the button is not pressed, the font has no outline decoration. Text outline decoration and text background are mutually exclusive, meaning both cannot be used simultaneously for text decoration.
- The Underline button controls whether an underline is added below the text in the text layer. When the button is pressed, there is an underline below the text; when not pressed, there is no underline below the text.
- The Strikethrough button controls whether a strikethrough is added to the text in the text layer. When the button is pressed, the text has a strikethrough; when not pressed, the text has no strikethrough.
- The Shadow button controls whether the text in the text layer has a shadow. When the button is pressed, the text has a shadow; when not pressed, the text has no shadow, and the text shadow color cannot be set.
- The Fixed Size button controls whether text in the text layer has a fixed size. When the button is pressed, the text size does not change with map zooming; when not pressed, the text size scales with map zooming.
- The Transparent BG button controls whether the background of text in the text layer is transparent. When the button is pressed, the text background is transparent; when not pressed, the text background is opaque, and the Background button in the Text Style group becomes enabled. Users can click this button to set the background color of the text in the pop-up color panel. Text background and text outline decoration are mutually exclusive, meaning both cannot be used simultaneously for text decoration.
- The Foreground button sets the color of text in the text layer. Clicking this button allows users to select and set an appropriate color from the pop-up color panel or customize the text color in the custom color area.
- The Rotation Angle button sets the rotation angle of text in the text layer. Users can select a suitable rotation angle from the combo box dropdown list on the right side of the text box or click the custom button and enter an accurate rotation angle in the pop-up Rotation Settings dialog.
- Support setting the alignment of text in the text layer with margins, from left to right: left alignment, center alignment, right alignment, and justify alignment. Users can click the relevant type to set the text alignment within the margins.
- Text Template: In the Text Template group, a gallery container organizes some commonly used scale text style templates for convenient immediate use. Selecting one template applies its style to the selected text. Click the Text Template dropdown menu to browse more scale text templates. Click the Template Manager button at the bottom of the panel to manage system templates and user-definable templates uniformly in the pop-up dialog.
Layer Style Panel
Select the text to modify in the current layer in the map, right-click and select Object Style to open the text style panel. You can view or reset various style parameters of the selected text. If the current text layer is not editable, you can only view the style parameters of the text in the property window but not modify them; if the current text layer is editable, you can also reset the style parameters of the text in the property window. The information displayed in this panel is consistent with the property window of the selected text. For detailed descriptions of text property information, please refer to Text Object Properties Window - Text.
