Result Display
Instructions
After the simulation analysis is completed, the calculation results will be automatically generated as S3M tiles and loaded into the scene. You can configure rendering parameters and use playback, pause, and other control buttons to achieve dynamic visualization of the simulation analysis results.

Rendering Settings
Function Entry
- Flood Simulation tab->Result Display group->Rendering Settings button
Steps
- Click the Flood Simulation tab->Result Display group->Rendering Settings button.
- In the pop-up "Rendering Settings" dialog box, you can configure the target layer, color characteristics, deformation characteristics, and flow direction characteristics.
- Layer settings: Select the S3M tile layer to apply the rendering parameters from the drop-down list.
- Color characteristics settings: Used to configure the layered color effect of the simulation results.
- Color characteristic value: Select the attribute field to display with the layered color effect from the drop-down list, including water depth, flow velocity, and water level.
- Color table: Set the color mapping scheme from the drop-down list. For more operations on color schemes, see the Color Scheme Editor.
- Transparency: Set the transparency of the layered color effect. The value range is [0,100], in percentage. The larger the value, the more transparent.
- Minimum visible value: Set the minimum value for data display. Data below this value will be filtered out and not displayed.
- Deformation characteristics settings: Used to configure the display effect of height displacement in the simulation results.
- Deformation characteristic value: Select the attribute field representing height changes from the drop-down list. Options include water depth, flow velocity, and water level. If rendering simulation results with terrain data, it is recommended to set this value to water level.
- Deformation coefficient: Set the exaggeration coefficient for height changes. The default value is 1.
- Flow direction characteristics settings: Used to configure the dynamic effects of water surface and flow.
- Enable water surface effect: When enabled, it will activate realistic water surface effects, including reflections, waves, whitecaps, etc.
- Flow: When enabled, it represents the flow direction with arrows, and each point displays the actual calculated flow direction.
- Arrow color: After enabling "Flow", you can select the color mapping scheme for the arrows.
- Water surface color: After enabling the water surface effect, you can select the color mapping scheme for the water surface.
- Noise intensity: Set the noise intensity of water surface waves, i.e., the random disorder degree of waves, used to control the wave disturbance effect. The default value is 1.8, and the value range is [0.01, 5.0]. The closer the value is to 0, the smoother the water surface and the more regular the waves; the larger the value, the greater the wave disturbance and the more chaotic the water surface.
- Water surface wavelength scale: Set the wavelength scale of the main wave, used to control the density of major waves (horizontal distance from crest to crest). The default value is 40, and the value range is [0.001, 500.0]. The smaller the value, the denser the waves, with frequent undulations, like pond ripples; the larger the value, the broader and gentler the waves, like ocean swells.
- Backflow water surface wavelength scale: Set the wavelength scale of backflow water surface waves, used to control the scale of secondary ripples superimposed on the main wave. The default value is 6, and the value range is [0.001, 500.0]. This parameter can be used to simulate water flow retreat, ripples, or other water surface details. The smaller the value, the finer and more detailed the secondary ripples; conversely, the larger the value, the broader and less detailed the secondary ripples.
- Whitecap maximum depth: Set the maximum water depth for generating whitecap effects. The value range is [0.0, 20.0]. Only when the water depth is less than this value will white foam be generated at wave crests or shorelines. The smaller the value, the fewer foam bubbles, limited to very small edge areas; conversely, the larger the value, the larger the foam area, with white foam even in deep water areas.
- Whitecap scaling factor: Set the scaling factor for whitecap effects. The default value is 20, and the value range is [0.0001, 500.0]. The smaller the value, the denser the foam, with higher granularity, like fine beer foam; conversely, the larger the value, the sparser the foam, with a stronger chunkiness, like floating ice or large clusters of spray.
- After the settings are completed, click the OK button to apply. With the playback control buttons, you can dynamically view the simulation analysis results.
Playback Control

- Flood Simulation tab->Result Display group->Total Duration/Initial Time/Previous Time/Play/Pause/Next Time/Last Time buttons
Steps
- After configuring the result layer, you can set the total duration of simulation result playback, in seconds, with a default value of 20. During playback, the system will automatically allocate the number of frames per second based on the number of result data time points.
- Progress information: Display the playback progress of simulation results through a progress bar. Dragging the progress bar can change the current progress.
- After the settings are completed, you can control the playback of simulation results through the following buttons:
- Initial time: Jump to the initial time of the simulation result.
- Previous time: Switch to the previous time.
- Play: Start playing the simulation result.
- Pause: Pause playback.
- Next time: Switch to the next time.
- Last time: Jump to the last time of the simulation result.
Notes:- Before using rendering settings, ensure that the simulation result S3M tile layer has been loaded into the current scene.
- The total duration only affects the playback speed of the results and does not change the time series of the simulation result data itself.
- The rendering settings are the same as the water surface effect in the S3M tile layer properties. Set it in one place only.
