Draw Elements

Usage Instructions

The drawing element function supports users in adding elements such as waterways, water bodies, water sources, and obstacles to the scene to intervene and adjust water flow movement in flood simulation.

  • Waterway: Used to simulate channels that guide water flow, such as water under bridges, canals, etc.

  • Water Body and Water Source: Used to introduce additional water into the simulation, such as in scenarios involving outlets or sea-level rise.

  • Obstacle: Used to block or alter the path of water flow, thereby affecting its direction of movement.

Draw a Waterway

Function Entry

  • Flood Simulation tab -> Drawing group -> Draw Waterway button

Operation Steps

  1. Click the Flood Simulation tab -> Drawing group -> Draw Waterway button.
  2. Move the mouse to a specified location in the scene, click the left button to start drawing the waterway, then move the mouse and successively click the left button to determine the waterway path. Finally, click the right button to complete the drawing.
  3. In the pop-up "Waterway Properties" dialog box, set the waterway diameter (unit: meters).
  4. Click OK to complete the waterway drawing and parameter setting. The result data will be saved in the waterway dataset of the target datasource and loaded for display in the current scene.

Drawing a Water Body

Function Entry

  • Flood Simulation tab -> Drawing group -> Draw Water Body button

Operation Steps

  1. Click the Flood Simulation tab -> Drawing group -> Draw Water Body button.
  2. Move the mouse to a specified location in the scene, click the left button to start drawing the water body, then move the mouse and successively click the left button to determine the water body boundary. Finally, click the right button to complete the drawing.
  3. In the pop-up "Water Body Properties" dialog box, set the water body discharge rate and its time distribution.
    • Add: Click the "Add" button on the toolbar, and a new row will be added to the list. You can set the start time (format: hh:mm:ss) and rate for water discharge.
    • Delete: Select any row in the list and click the "Delete" button on the toolbar to remove it.
  4. Click OK to complete the water body drawing and parameter setting. The result data will be saved in the water body dataset of the target datasource and loaded for display in the current scene.

Drawing a Water Source

Function Entry

  • Flood Simulation tab -> Drawing group -> Draw Water Source button

Operation Steps

  1. Click the Flood Simulation tab -> Drawing group -> Draw Water Source button.
  2. Move the mouse to a specified location in the scene, click the left button to start determining the water source, and click the right button to complete the drawing.
  3. In the pop-up "Water Source Properties" dialog box, set the water source discharge rate and its time distribution.
    • Add: Click the "Add" button on the toolbar, and a new row will be added to the list. You can set the start time (format: hh:mm:ss) and rate for water discharge.
    • Delete: Select any row in the list and click the "Delete" button on the toolbar to remove it.
  4. Click OK to complete the water source drawing and parameter setting. The result data will be saved in the water source dataset of the target datasource and loaded for display in the current scene.

Drawing an Obstacle

Function Entry

  • Flood Simulation tab -> Drawing group -> Draw Obstacle button

Operation Steps

  1. Click the Flood Simulation tab -> Drawing group -> Draw Obstacle button.
  2. Move the mouse to a specified location in the scene, click the left button to start drawing the obstacle, then move the mouse and successively click the left button to determine the obstacle path. Finally, click the right button to complete the drawing.
  3. In the pop-up "Obstacle Properties" dialog box, set the obstacle height (unit: meters).
  4. Click OK to complete the obstacle drawing and parameter setting. The result data will be saved in the obstacle dataset of the target datasource and loaded for display in the current scene.

Viewing and Modifying Element Properties

Function Entry

  • Flood Simulation tab -> Drawing group -> Waterway Properties/Water Body Properties/Water Source Properties/Obstacle Properties button

Operation Steps

  1. In the scene, click to select any waterway, water body, water source, or obstacle element.

  2. Click the Flood Simulation tab -> Drawing group -> the corresponding property button (e.g., "Waterway Properties", "Water Body Properties", etc.).

  3. In the pop-up property dialog box, view and modify the property values of the selected element.

  4. Click "OK" to complete the property modification. The updated data will be saved in the corresponding element dataset of the target datasource.
