Draw Features

Instructions

The Draw Features function allows users to add features such as waterways, water areas, water sources, and obstacles to the scene, which are used to intervene and adjust the movement of water in flood simulation.

  • Waterway: Used to simulate channels that guide water flow, such as under-bridge flow, channels, etc.

  • Water Area and Water Source: Used to introduce additional water into the simulation, such as outlets, sea level rise, etc.

  • Obstacle: Used to block or change the path of water flow, thereby affecting the direction of water movement.

Draw a Waterway

Function Entry

  • Flood Simulation tab->Draw group->Draw Waterway button

Steps

  1. Click the Flood Simulation tab->Draw group->Draw Waterway button.
  2. Move the mouse to the specified position in the scene, click the left mouse button to start drawing the waterway, then move the mouse and click the left button in sequence to determine the waterway path, and finally right-click to finish drawing.
  3. In the "Waterway Properties" dialog box that pops up, set the waterway diameter (in meters), i.e., the waterway width.
  4. Click the OK button to complete the waterway drawing and parameter settings. The result data will be saved in the waterway dataset of the target data source and loaded and displayed in the current scene.

Draw a Water Area

Function Entry

  • Flood Simulation tab->Draw group->Draw Water Area button

Steps

  1. Click the Flood Simulation tab->Draw group->Draw Water Area button.
  2. Move the mouse to the specified position in the scene, click the left mouse button to start drawing the water area, then move the mouse and click the left button in sequence to determine the boundary of the water area, and finally right-click to finish drawing.
  3. In the "Water Area Properties" dialog box that pops up, set the water area outflow rate and its time distribution.
    • Add: Click the "Add" button in the toolbar, a new row will be added to the list, where you can set the start time of water area outflow (in hh:mm:ss format) and the flow rate (in m³/s).
    • Delete: Select any row in the list and click the "Delete" button in the toolbar to remove it.
  4. Click the OK button to complete the water area drawing and parameter settings. The result data will be saved in the water area dataset of the target data source and loaded and displayed in the current scene.

Draw a Water Source

Function Entry

  • Flood Simulation tab->Draw group->Draw Water Source button

Steps

  1. Click the Flood Simulation tab->Draw group->Draw Water Source button.
  2. Move the mouse to the specified position in the scene, click the left mouse button to set the water source location, and right-click to finish drawing.
  3. In the "Water Source Properties" dialog box that pops up, set the water source outflow rate and its time distribution.
    • Add: Click the "Add" button in the toolbar, a new row will be added to the list, where you can set the start time of water source outflow (in hh:mm:ss format) and the flow rate (in m³/s).
    • Delete: Select any row in the list and click the "Delete" button in the toolbar to remove it.
  4. Click the OK button to complete the water source drawing and parameter settings. The result data will be saved in the water source dataset of the target data source and loaded and displayed in the current scene.

Draw an Obstacle

Function Entry

  • Flood Simulation tab->Draw group->Draw Obstacle button

Steps

  1. Click the Flood Simulation tab->Draw group->Draw Obstacle button.
  2. Move the mouse to the specified position in the scene, click the left mouse button to start drawing the obstacle, then move the mouse and click the left button in sequence to determine the obstacle path, and finally right-click to finish drawing.
  3. In the "Obstacle Properties" dialog box that pops up, set the obstacle height (in meters).
  4. Click the OK button to complete the obstacle drawing and parameter settings. The result data will be saved in the obstacle dataset of the target data source and loaded and displayed in the current scene.

View and Modify Feature Properties

Function Entry

  • Flood Simulation tab->Draw group->Waterway Properties/Water Area Properties/Water Source Properties/Obstacle Properties button

Steps

  1. Click to select any waterway, water area, water source, or obstacle feature in the scene.

  2. Click the Flood Simulation tab->Draw group->the corresponding property button (e.g., "Waterway Properties", "Water Area Properties", etc.).

  3. After the property dialog box appears, select the corresponding water feature in the scene to view and modify its property values.

  4. Click the OK button to complete the property modification. The updated data will be saved in the corresponding feature dataset of the target data source.

Notes:
  • Before drawing a waterway, water area, water source, or obstacle, make sure a flood simulation data source has been created or opened.
  • Before viewing and modifying feature properties, ensure the mouse is in the Select or Select and Roam state.
