Import IFC

Instructions for use

The Import IFC command is used to import BIM data in IFC format and add a Model Dataest node in Datasource.

IFC standard is a construction data exchange standard issued by the International Alliance for Cooperative Work (IAI) (International Alliance for Interoperability) for the construction industry. It is a standard format for some industries. At present, the commonly used BIM software such as Revit, Bentley, Tekla and so on have supported the export of BIM data in IFC format.

Function entrance

  • 3D Data tab-> Model group-> BIM drop-down menu-> Import IFC
  • Toolbox -> 3D Data -> Data Import -> Import IFC
  • Workspace Manager -> Specify DatasourceContext Menu -> Import BIM Data pull-down menu-> IFC

Operation steps

  1. Select Target Datasource or Create Datasource in Workspace Manager and check.
  2. On the 3D Data tab, click the Import IFC button in the BIM drop-down menu in the Model group to bring up the Import IFC "dialog.
  3. Make Source Data Settings, Result Data Settings, Advanced Settings, Georeferencing Origin Settings, and Coordinate System Settings as needed. See the Import IFC tool page for specific parameters.
  4. After setting, click the Execute button to execute the Import IFC operation. After completion, an IFCDataset node will be added under Target Datasource in Workspace Manager.
Caution:
  • Currently, only IFC4x, IFC4, IFC2x4, IFC2x3, IFC2x2, IFC2x, IFC20 and other versions are supported.
