Overview Of Geological Modeling

Instructions for Use

Geological modeling is used to organize geological modeling projects, configure project work areas, import borehole data in SuperMap iDesktopX, and generate a 3D geological structure model that matches the geological characteristics of the study area through the structural modeling workflow. Currently, this feature is only supported on the Windows platform.

The geological modeling workflow typically includes project work area settings, borehole location, borehole trajectory, borehole stratification data configuration, structural modeling, model inspection and correction, and grid subdivision and modeling as needed.

Application Scenarios

  • Build a 3D geological structure model of the study area based on borehole data.
  • Perform grid subdivision on the structural model to provide a spatial framework for attribute modeling.
  • Inspect and correct the stratum body using borehole stratification, borehole breakpoints, and other data.

Feature Requirements

  • Basic data such as borehole location, borehole trajectory, and borehole stratification must be prepared.
  • Before modeling, confirm the data coordinate range, depth unit, elevation range, model boundary, and grid parameters.
  • Before modeling, a data source (*.udbx) for storing project data must be available.

Version Information

The geological modeling feature has been available since SuperMap iDesktopX 2026 and requires a 3D geological modeling license to use.
