Usage Instructions
Data Configuration - Borehole Layering is used to import borehole stratification files into the current geological modeling project. Borehole stratification records the layers and attribute information corresponding to different depth points of a borehole. It is important basic data for horizon correction, sublayer modeling, and attribute modeling.
In the Data Configuration dialog box, you can select the Borehole Stratification data type, add a *.top stratification file, and configure the internal data fields, external data column positions, and whether to import via the Data Field Configuration table. At the bottom of the dialog box, a file preview is provided to check whether the column positions match the file content.
Application Scenarios
- Import borehole stratification data into a geological modeling project.
- Extract borehole stratification points into the structural model to correct geologic horizons.
- Provide stratification constraints for sublayer micro-structural modeling, sedimentary facies analysis, and attribute modeling.
Functional Condition Description
- The project area has been set up, and a datasource for storing project data has been specified in the Geological Modeling tab.
- A borehole stratification file has been prepared; common file type is *.top.
- The stratification file should contain fields such as borehole name, layer name, and top depth, and the borehole names must be consistent with the imported borehole locations or trajectory data.
Function Entry
- Geological Modeling tab -> Configuration group -> Data Configuration button -> Borehole Layering on the left side of the Data Configuration dialog box
Operation Instructions
- In the Geological Modeling tab, after completing the datasource settings and project area configuration for the geological modeling project, click the Data Configuration button to open the Data Configuration dialog box, and select Borehole Stratification from the data type list on the left.
- In the file type dropdown, select Borehole Stratification File (*.top)|top. Add the *.top files you want to import. You can add multiple stratification files at once, and the file list will show the paths of files to be imported. To remove a file, select it in the file list and use the delete button.
- In the Data Field Configuration table, configure data fields, including borehole name, layer name, top depth, sandstone thickness, effective thickness, porosity, permeability, oil saturation, sedimentary facies, etc.
- Based on the column positions in the preview table at the bottom, set the corresponding External Data Column Position for Borehole Name, Layer Name, and Top Depth.
- Check the fields you want to import in the Import? column. Borehole name, layer name, and top depth are key fields for borehole stratification import.
- Depending on the data content, you can choose to import attribute fields such as Sandstone Thickness, Effective Thickness, Porosity, Vertical Permeability, Horizontal Permeability, Oil Saturation, and Sedimentary Facies.
Field Description Borehole Name The name or ID of the borehole, used to match with the borehole location and borehole trajectory data in the project. Layer Name The name of the stratum or sublayer corresponding to the borehole stratification. Top Depth The measured depth from the borehole platform to the top surface of the specified stratum. Sandstone Thickness, Effective Thickness Optional attribute fields that can be used for subsequent reservoir analysis or attribute modeling. Porosity, Permeability, Oil Saturation, Sedimentary Facies Optional attribute fields; select import based on the actual columns present in the data file.
- In the preview table at the bottom, check the file column names and field content to confirm that the column positions, field names, and data values match the configuration.
- After confirming that the files and field configuration are correct, click OK to import. To discard the current configuration, click Cancel.
Notes:- The borehole name must be consistent with the borehole data already imported into the project; otherwise, the stratification data cannot be correctly associated with the corresponding borehole.
- Top depth is a measured depth. Confirm that the depth unit and depth datum are consistent before import.
- For checked fields, set a valid external data column position and ensure the column position matches the file content in the preview table.
- When importing multiple files, ensure that the field structure is consistent across different files to avoid the same field corresponding to different columns in different files.
