Project Workspace Settings

Usage Instructions

Project workspace settings are used to determine the project source and three-dimensional working range before starting a geological modeling project. This is a necessary step for geological modeling. Through the Workspace Settings panel, you can select an existing project, or create a new project and enter its name, while setting the planar boundary and elevation range of the current workspace.

The workspace range is controlled by parameters such as Left, Bottom, Right, Top, Minimum Elevation, and Maximum Elevation. After configuration, click Save and Apply, and the current parameters will be used for subsequent geological modeling data organization, model calculation, and scene display range control.

Application Scenarios

  • Create a new project and specify the modeling workspace range before geological modeling.
  • Adjust the workspace range of an existing project to avoid an excessively large model range or incomplete elevation range.

Functional Requirements

  • The planar coordinate range and elevation limits of the project have been confirmed.
  • To select an existing project, the current datasource should contain a created geological modeling project.

Operation Instructions

  1. In the Geological Modeling tab, select a datasource for storing project data from the Specify Datasource drop-down list.
  2. Click the Project Workspace button to open the Workspace Settings panel.
  3. In the Project Settings area, select the project source:
    • Select Project: Choose an existing project in the current datasource from the drop-down list.
    • New Project: Enter a new project name in the text box and create a project with that name, for example NewDataset. After creation, a 2D polygon dataset named Project (planar unprojected coordinate system) will be created in the specified datasource to store project workspace information and subsequent data configuration information.
  4. In the Current Workspace Range area, enter the working range, ensuring that Right is greater than Left, Top is greater than Bottom, and Maximum Elevation is greater than Minimum Elevation.
    • Left: Left boundary coordinate of the workspace.
    • Bottom: Bottom boundary coordinate of the workspace.
    • Right: Right boundary coordinate of the workspace.
    • Top: Top boundary coordinate of the workspace.
    • Minimum Elevation/Maximum Elevation: Vertical range of the workspace.
  5. Click Save and Apply to save the current project and workspace range settings, and apply them to the subsequent geological modeling workflow. After completion, the project workspace information will be saved in the Project 2D polygon dataset in the specified datasource.

When extracting the workspace range from borehole data, the system will prompt a range extraction notification. After confirming the extraction, return to the Workspace Settings panel to check and save the workspace range.

Notes:
  • The coordinate unit of the workspace should be consistent with that of the selected datasource or project data.
  • The workspace range should cover data to be imported or generated later; an excessively large range will increase the burden of data organization and modeling calculation.
  • Minimum elevation should be less than maximum elevation and should cover the elevation range of geological data to be involved in modeling in the project.
  • After modifying the workspace range of an existing project, click Save and Apply to make the settings effective.
  • To ensure the accuracy of subsequent modeling, it is recommended not to make any modifications to the Project dataset.
