Dimension migration

The necessary annotation on the map is indispensable, which not only helps users to better distinguish the features, but also shows some important attributes of the features, such as administrative divisions, rivers, organs, tourist attractions, contours and so on.

ArcGIS Annotation

In ArcGIS, annotation refers to the process of automatically generating and placing the description text of map features, which can dynamically annotate all features in a layer, and can also use annotation classification to specify different annotation attributes for features in the same layer. The Manage Labeler lets you create and manage dimension classifications in your map, as well as view and change the dimension properties and placement of all dimension classifications in your map.

SuperMap annotation

In SuperMap, through the production of Thematic Label Map, users can easily realize the map annotation, corresponding to the annotation in ArcGIS.

The Thematic Label Map is used to label the objects such as points, lines, and surfaces with thematic values (also called labels), for example, label the information such as place name, Road Name, river grade, and width. In the Thematic Label Map, the display style and position of a label can be set uniformly, or the style of a single label or a label in each segment can be set separately in a segmented manner.

The Thematic Label Map has the following characteristics:

  • The Thematic Label Map can be segmented into Style Settings, that is, a segment field expression can be set, the segment mode and segment value can be set, and the element labels in different segment ranges can be set into different styles;
  • Support the maximum and minimum values of text zoom, that is, when the map is zoomed, the text is only zoomed within the maximum and minimum values.

Annotation priority

  • Annotation priority affects the order in which annotations are placed in your map. Annotations with higher priorities are usually placed first, followed by annotations with lower priorities. In addition, lower priority annotations that conflict with higher priority annotations may be placed in an alternate location or not displayed.
  • Multiple Overlap Settings options are supported. For details, see Map Properties-Basic ; Meanwhile, The Thematic Label Map supports Effect Settings, which is used to adjust and control the Display Effects of the label object (Text) in the Thematic Label Map. Please refer to the Thematic Label Map for details.
