Thematic Map Migration

There are many types of thematic maps, but most are composed of a geographical base and thematic content. The geographical base refers to some elements from ordinary maps, such as graticules, water systems, settlements, transportation lines, terrain, etc. The geographical base serves as the framework for compiling thematic content and represents the geographical location of thematic content, explaining the relationship between thematic content and the geographical environment. Which geographical base elements are represented on a thematic map and to what level of detail depends on the specific thematic content.

Thematic content can be divided into two categories based on data: first, displaying one or several elements from ordinary maps more completely and in detail, while relegating other elements to secondary status or omitting them, such as transportation maps; second, including thematic elements that are not present on ordinary maps or are invisible or not directly measurable on the ground, such as population density maps.

ArcGIS Thematic Maps

ArcGIS thematic maps are created by symbolizing maps. After configuring the map, point, line, and polygon features in layers are symbolized, and information can be categorized to produce single-value thematic maps, graduated color thematic maps, etc. In addition, it supports the creation of statistical thematic maps, density thematic maps, scatter distribution maps, multi-attribute change maps, etc. For different industries, thematic map customization is also available.

SuperMap Thematic Maps

Provides functionality for creating thematic maps based on vector and raster data.
