Regardless of layer type (vector, raster, or image), the Display group in Layer Properties panel provides common parameters including:
Visible
Controls layer visibility. When checked, the layer is visible; otherwise hidden.
When unchecked, Selectable, Editable, and Snappable become unavailable.
Layer Visible can also be controlled through:
- Visible icon before layers in Layer Manager
- Context menu of selected layer in Layer Manager → Visible
- Layer Manager → Layer Control → Visible

Selectable
Controls whether features in this layer can be selected. When checked, features are selectable; otherwise not.
Layer Selectable can also be controlled through:
- Selectable icon before layers in Layer Manager
- Context menu of selected layer in Layer Manager → Selectable
- Layer Manager → Layer Control → Selectable
Editable
Controls whether features in vector layers can be edited. When checked, features are editable; otherwise not.
Layer Editable can also be controlled through:
- Editable icon before layers in Layer Manager
- Context menu of selected layer in Layer Manager → Editable
- Layer Manager → Layer Control → Editable
Snappable
Controls whether features in vector layers can be snapped. When checked, features can be snapped during selection or editing; otherwise not.
Layer Snappable can also be controlled through:
- Snappable icon before layers in Layer Manager
- Context menu of selected layer in Layer Manager → Snappable
- Layer Manager → Layer Control → Snappable
Layer Name
Displays uneditable layer name serving as unique identifier in the map.
Layer Caption
Displays layer alias in Layer Manager. Editable modifications update immediately in Layer Manager.
Transparency:
Sets layer transparency.
Input value directly or use spin buttons. Default: 0 (opaque). Valid range: [0,100] integers. 0=opaque, 100=fully transparent.
Blend Mode
Sets overlay calculation method between layers for different rendering effects.
Available modes:
Mode Category | Mode Name | Description |
Normal Mode | Normal | No color alteration. Default blending type. |
Darken | Darken | Uses minimum RGB values from both layers for final color. |
Multiply | Multiplies layer colors, typically darkening result. | |
Color Burn | Darkens base layer colors, white remains unchanged. | |
Linear Burn | Adds layer colors then subtracts 1. | |
Lighten | Lighten | Uses maximum RGB values from both layers. |
Screen | Inverts and multiplies colors, brightening result. | |
Color Dodge | Reduces contrast and increases brightness. Black unchanged. | |
Linear Dodge | Adds brightness values. Black unchanged. | |
Contrast | Overlay | Multiplies dark areas (<0.5), screens light areas. |
Soft Light | Similar to Overlay with reduced contrast. | |
Hard Light | Multiplies dark areas, screens light areas from current layer. | |
Vivid Light | Combines Color Burn and Color Dodge. | |
Linear Light | Brightens areas >0.5, darkens areas <0.5. | |
Pin Light | Replaces darker pixels if layer >50% gray; replaces lighter pixels if layer <50% gray. | |
Difference | Difference | Subtracts layer colors then adds base color divided by 2. |
Subtract | Subtracts upper layer color from lower layer. |
Fill Mode
Controls fill symbol rendering with Global Mode or Object Mode.
- Global Mode: Renders from layer's top-left corner, filling entire layer.
- Object Mode: Renders from individual feature's top-left corner, filling each feature separately.

For CAD Datasets containing point/line/area features, Fill Mode only affects area features.
Weight
Sets display order priority for label/text layers. Higher values get higher display priority. Used for multi-layer display control.
Requires enabling Label Always Top in Map Properties.
Minimum Visible Scale
Input scale value (e.g. 1:500000) or select from dropdown to set minimum scale. Layer becomes invisible when map scale is smaller than set value.
Maximum Visible Scale
Input scale value (e.g. 1:100000) or select from dropdown to set maximum scale. Layer becomes invisible when map scale is larger than set value.

Dropdown options vary by context:
- Shows fixed scales if current map has them set
- Shows 8 basic scales (1:5000 to 1:1000000) if no fixed scales
- Retains custom scales entered in spin boxes for reuse
