Select Template

Feature Description

To directly create maps or update data using existing templates, utilize the Select Template feature. This function supports selecting templates from the current workspace or local *.xml template files as editing templates.

Feature Entry

  • Features Tab->Feature Drawing Group->Template Editing Dropdown->Select Template .
  • Maps Tab->Template Editing Group->Template Editing Dropdown->Select Template .

Steps

  1. Open the Select Template dialog through any of the above feature entries.
  2. Configure parameters in the Select Template dialog:
    • Editing Template: Select existing templates from the current workspace via the dropdown, or click the file button to choose local *.xml template files. For template import/export operations, refer to Template Manager documentation.
    • Reassign Datasource: After selecting a template, the system automatically matches datasources with identical names in the workspace. For non-matching names, perform manual reassignment:
      • In the reassignment list: Source Datasource column shows template datasource names, while Specify Datasource column displays current workspace datasources. Use dropdowns to reassign.
      • The toolbar provides Select All, Select Reverse, and Uniform Settings buttons. Batch select records and click Uniform Settings to apply unified datasource specifications.
  3. After configuration, click OK to generate a new map based on the template and specified datasources. The map will open with the Template Editing panel, whose operations align with Template Editing documentation.
    Note:

    If dataset names in specified datasources don't match template datasets, corresponding layers will fail to create. Unmatched layers will be listed in the output window.
