Data Migration Overview

The conventional GIS application is mainly to store and manage the basic geographic information data and business data involved in the industry in the form of files or databases through the GIS desktop or the industry desktop software developed based on GIS components, and then on the one hand, the application system can be developed directly through the C/S architecture. The application system directly performs read-write interaction with the data storage; On the other hand, through the B/S architecture, the data can be published as a standard REST service, and the service can be invoked through the front-end Web application. At the same time, with the development of technology at that time and the requirements of users for the efficiency of Web service access, the technology of map caching can be gradually used to improve the efficiency of map service access.

SuperMap iDesktopX provides a data migration module, which can efficiently and quickly migrate data, maps and services in other GIS software to SuperMap, ensuring the accuracy of data and the consistency of the display effect between the migrated map and the original map. Currently, SuperMap iDesktopX supports ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, MapGIS, and Tsinghua Shanwei data migration.

In this chapter, you will learn the following:

  • ArcGIS Migration : describes how to migrate data, maps, symbols, etc. of ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro to SuperMap;
  • MapGIS Migration : introduce how to migrate the data and maps made in MapGIS to SuperMap;
