Generate Orthophotos

Feature Description

A Digital Orthophoto Map (DOM), simply referred to as an orthophoto, is an image dataset generated through vertical projection of aerial/spaceborne imagery. During orthorectification, the system eliminates geometric distortions caused by terrain relief and camera tilt, ensuring uniform geometric accuracy. Orthophotos can be seamlessly overlaid with maps and vector data, providing reliable support for precise spatial analysis and measurements. The Generate Orthophotos process outputs these geometrically corrected image datasets.

In workflow production, only panchromatic orthophotos are output by default.

SuperMap ImageX Pro 11i(2023) version and later support this feature.

Parameter Description

Parameter Description Type
Dataset

Displays original images for generating panchromatic orthophotos (read-only).

DatasetMosaic
Export Directory Uses the Processing path parameter from Set Image Path (read-only). File
Resolution Type

Specifies output image resolution method. Default: Original Resolution.

  • Original Resolution: Maintains input image's native resolution.
  • Fixed Value: Uses specified value as output resolution.
  • Custom: Assigns different resolutions based on satellite sensor types. Selecting this option opens the Custom Resolution: dialog. Click Add to create new entries, select sensor types in Satellite Sensor Type column, and input corresponding resolutions in Resolution column.
    Notes:
    • For unsupported satellite sensor types, select USEDEFINE option. This will apply USEDEFINE-specified resolution to all unsupported sensor data.
    • When processing multi-sensor data (e.g., ZY3, GF-2, LandSat) with only partial resolution settings (e.g., ZY3 specified), unspecified sensors will retain original resolutions.
OrthoRatioType
Coordinate System Settings Uses Output Coordinate System parameter from Set Image Path (read-only). PrjCoordSys
Output Format Uses Output Format parameter from Set Image Path (read-only). FileType
Compression Method Uses Compression Method parameter from Set Image Path (read-only). CompressMethod
Downscale to 8-bit Unsigned

Determines whether to convert pixel format to 8-bit unsigned integer.

Default: Unchecked (retains original pixel format for lossless precision).

When checked, applies specified stretch method to convert pixel format to 8-bit. Reduces storage and improves efficiency, but may cause overexposure/information loss affecting subsequent analysis.

Boolean
Stretch Method Available when Downscale to 8-bit Unsigned is checked. Default: Percent Clip. Other options: Minimum Maximum, Gaussian, Gamalashin, Histogram Equalization, and Logarithmic Stretch. See Image Stretching Methods. DesktopImageStretchingType
Minimum Percentage

Available when Stretch Method is Percent Clip. Default: 1.

Double
Maximum Percentage Available when Stretch Method is Percent Clip. Default: 99. Double
Gaussian Standard Deviation Coefficient Available when Stretch Method is Gaussian. Default: 3. Integer
Gamma Stretch Parameter Available when Stretch Method is Gamalashin. Default: 0.5. Double
Create Image Pyramid Default: Checked. Builds pyramids using specified resampling method to enhance zoom performance. Boolean
Resampling Method Available when Create Image Pyramid is checked. Default: Average. See Resampling Methods. PyramidResampleType
Asynchronously Create Statistics Enables on-the-fly raster stretching during viewing based on statistics. Unchecked: Statistics generation occurs during tool execution (time-consuming). Default: Checked (background statistics generation). Boolean

Output

  • Outputs orthorectified panchromatic imagery to local folders.
  • Automatically creates OrthoPanmosaic dataset in OrthoData datasource.
