Divide Computing Cells

Instructions

After creating or opening a flood simulation datasource, and after drawing or opening a simulation area, use the Divide Computing Cells function to divide the flood simulation analysis area based on the specified cell size, and compute nodes, edges, cells, and other data.

  • Flood Simulation tab ->Configure Simulation Layer group ->Divide Computing Cells button

Operation Steps

  1. Click the Flood Simulation tab -> Configure Simulation Layer group -> Divide Computing Cells button to open the "Divide Computing Cells" dialog box.
  2. Raster Data Settings (Required): Select the target terrain dataset from the raster datasets opened in the workspace.
  3. Model Data Settings (Optional): Select the required model dataset from the opened datasource.
  4. Simulation Area Settings (Optional): Select a 3D polygon dataset representing the study area (EPSG:4490).
  5. Cell Size Settings: Set the cell size of the analysis area, i.e., the grid size obtained after division, in meters, default value is 100 meters.
    The cell size setting needs to comprehensively consider the accuracy of calculation results and computational cost. For example, in urban surface runoff or waterlogging scenarios, the influence of objects such as buildings and streets on flood flow direction and velocity should be considered; the cell size can be set to about 5 meters. In flat, open scenarios, flood changes are relatively slow, so the cell size can be appropriately increased to improve computational efficiency, for example, set to 50 meters or 200 meters.
  6. After the settings are complete, click the OK button to execute the computing cell division. When finished, the results are saved to the node, edge, and cell datasets in the target datasource. If a simulation area is set, the selected 3D polygon dataset is written into the study area dataset.
Notes:
  • The smaller the cell size, the more refined the calculation results are usually, but the calculation time and resource consumption also increase.
  • Before executing the divide computing cells operation, make sure that the flood simulation datasource has been created or opened, and the simulation area has been set.
