Setting Text Properties

Function Entry

Right-click the text and select Properties to open the Layout Object Properties panel.

  • Layout Object Properties window -> Text tab.
  • Layout Object Properties window -> Geo tab.

Text

Basic Info

  • Text:
    • Subobject: When the text is a compound object, you need to specify a subobject for property settings. The first subobject is selected by default.
    • Text Content: Used to display and set the text of the subobject.
    • Rotation Angle: Used to set the rotation angle of the subobject's text. If the Apply to All check box is checked, the set angle will be applied to all subobjects.
  • Select a Text Template...: Used to apply an existing text template to the current text. Click this button, select a text template in the Select Style Template window that pops up, and click OK to apply it. The template is applied using a parameter copy method. After application, you can continue to modify the font, font size, color, and font effects.
  • Font: Used to display and set the font of the text. The drop-down list box on the right side of this label control provides a rich set of fonts for users to choose from. It supports adding @ before the font in the combo box to achieve vertical display effects. Click the drop-down list of the combo box on the right side of this label control to select a font, and font search is supported.
  • Font Size: Displays and sets the font size of the text. Users can either input the font size value or select an appropriate font size from the drop-down list on the right.
  • Font Height: Displays and sets the height of the text font.
  • Text Color: Used to set the text color. Click the color button on the right, and users can select and set an appropriate color in the pop-up color panel.
  • Background: Used to set the background or outline color of the text. Click the color button on the right, and users can select and set an appropriate color in the pop-up color panel.

Font Effects

  • Bold: Used to control whether the text font is bold.
  • Strikethrough: Used to control whether the text has a strikethrough decoration.
  • Shadow: Used to control whether the text has a shadow decoration.
  • Underline: Used to control whether the text has an underline decoration.
  • Left Italic/Right Italic: Used to control whether the text font is italicized to the left or right.
  • Outline: Used to control whether the text has an outline decoration.
  • Transparent BG: Used to control whether the text background is transparent.
  • Alignment: Displays and sets the alignment of the text. The system provides 4 types of text alignment: Left Align, Right Align, Center Align, and Justify Alignment.
  • Line Spacing: SuperMap iDesktopX 2026 version onwards supports setting the line spacing of text in the layout. Two setting methods are provided: Times and Fixed Value, with Times as the default. Both methods allow adjusting the spacing size via Set the Value.
    • Times: Based on the font height plus the system default blank space, the line spacing is adjusted by a set multiple. The Set the Value defaults to 1, and the unit is times.
    • Fixed Value: Based on the font height plus the system default blank space, an additional specified value is added as the line spacing. The Set the Value defaults to 12, and the unit is mm.
  • Add to Text Template...: Used to save the current text effects as a text template. Click this button, enter the template name in the Add to Text Template window that pops up, and set the target template library. When an existing template library is selected, the new template will be added to that library. After both the template name and the template library are fully filled in and validated, click OK to complete the addition. If you need to generate a local copy of the template simultaneously, check Export a Local Copy at the Same Time and set the save location.

Geo

In the Geo tab of the Layout Object Properties window, you can view and modify the selected object's width, height values, and upper-left coordinates. It supports batch selecting layout objects and uniformly setting their size and position. Using this feature allows precise control over the size and position of layout objects, which aids in accurate mapping.
