Setting Text Properties

Open the Text Object Properties Panel

In the layout, the display effects of text can be precisely controlled through the properties panel. The following are the detailed setup steps:

  1. Select the target text in the layout.
  2. Right-click and select the Properties option to open the text object properties panel.

Basic Info

  • Text:
    • Subobject: When the text is compound, you need to specify a subobject for property settings, with the first subobject as the default.
    • Text Content: Used to display and set the text of the subobject.
    • Rotation Angle: Used to set the text rotation angle of the subobject. If the Apply to All checkbox is checked, the set angle will apply to all subobjects.
  • Font: Used to display and set the font of the text. The combo box dropdown list on the right side of the label control provides a rich selection of fonts for users to choose from. It supports adding @ before the font in the combo box to achieve vertical display effects. It also provides a "recent font" group for easy selection of recent font names. The system supports quick first-letter positioning of fonts via the keyboard. For example, clicking the letter "T" on the keyboard will display fonts starting with the letter "T" in the dropdown list. Click the combo box dropdown list on the right side of the label control to select a font.
  • Font Size: Displays and sets the font size of the text. Users can either enter a numerical value for the font size or select a suitable font size from the combo box dropdown list on the right.
  • Font Height: Displays and sets the height of the text font.
  • Text Color: Used to set the text color. Click the color button on the right, and users can select and set a suitable color in the pop-up color panel. They can also click the "Other Colors..." button at the bottom of the color panel to customize the desired text color in the popped-up "Color" dialog.
  • Background: Used to set the background or outline color of the text. Click the color button on the right, and users can select and set a suitable color in the pop-up color panel. They can also click the "Other Colors..." button at the bottom of the color panel to customize the desired color in the popped-up "Color" dialog.
  • Enable the Text Box: Starting fromSuperMap iDesktopX 2025 version, enabling the text box for layout ordinary text is supported. Control the display status of the text box via the enable the text box button. After creating ordinary text, the system defaults to enabling the text box, with the line type initially set to NULL.
    • Line: After enabling the text box, setting the line type of the text box is supported.
    • Adjust Text Box Size: Select the target text, move the mouse to the green node on the border of the text box. When the cursor changes to up and down arrows, drag the node to adjust the width of the text box, and the text content will automatically wrap according to the new width.

Font Effect

  • Bold: Used to control whether the text font uses bold.
  • Strikethrough: Used to control whether the text has strikethrough decoration.
  • Shadow: Used to control whether the text has shadow decoration.
  • Underline: Used to control whether the text has underline decoration.
  • Outline: Used to control whether the text has outline decoration.
  • Transparent BG: Used to control whether the text background is transparent.
  • Left Italic/Right Italic: Used to control whether the text font is left-slanted or right-slanted.
  • Fixed Size: Used to set whether to fix the text size when scaling the map. Selected means the text size does not change with map zoom. Unselected means the text size scales with map zoom.
  • Alignment: Displays and sets the alignment of the text in the text. The system provides four types of text alignment: left alignment, right alignment, center alignment, and justified alignment.
  • Line Spacing: SuperMap iDesktopX 2026 version starts supporting setting the line spacing of text in the layout. Two setting methods are provided: Times and Fixed Value, with Times as the default. Both methods allow adjusting the spacing size via Set the Value.
    • Times: Based on the character height plus the system default margin, adjust the line spacing according to the set multiple. Set the Value defaults to 1, with the unit as times.
    • Fixed Value: On the basis of the character height plus the system default margin, add a specified numerical value as the line spacing. Set the Value defaults to 12, with the unit as mm.

Geo

In the Geo tab of the layout object properties window, you can view and modify the selected object's width, height values, and upper left coordinates values. It supports uniform settings of size and position after batch selecting layout objects. Using this function allows precise control of the size and position of layout objects, aiding in accurate mapping.
