Generate Near Points

Feature Description

Used to move point objects around lines or regions onto their boundaries.

Application Scenarios

  • For traffic safety, highways are equipped with devices such as electronic eyes, radar monitors, and road signs. During surveying and vectorization, these device points may not be located on the centerline of the highway, with irregular directions and distances relative to the line. It's necessary to move these points onto the line for statistical analysis of devices per road section.
  • In cross-sectional measurements of highways or canals, accurately collecting measurement points on cross-sectional lines is challenging. When drawing cross-sectional diagrams, measurement points need to be projected onto the lines. Manual adjustment of points is inefficient.

  • Toolbox->Data Processing->Vector->Generate Near Points.

Parameter Description

  • Source Dataset
    • Datasource: Specifies the datasource containing the point dataset to be moved.
    • Dataset: Specifies the name of the point dataset to be moved.
  • Proximity Data
    • Datasource: Specifies the datasource containing target line/region datasets.
    • Dataset: Specifies the name of target line/region dataset.
  • Parameters
    • Tolerance: Sets the maximum distance threshold. Points within this distance from lines/regions will be moved onto them.
  • Result Data
    • Datasource: Specifies the output datasource for moved points.
    • Dataset: Specifies the name of the output point dataset.
