3D Topology Preprocessing

Feature Description

Before validating topology relations using a topology dataset, it is necessary to perform topological preprocessing on the target data. This process adjusts problematic data within the tolerance range. Skipping topological preprocessing may lead to errors in topology validation results. 3D Topology Preprocessing provides node snap processing, currently supporting 3D line datasets only.

Feature Entry

  • Data Tab->Topology Group->Topology Preprocessing Drop-down Button->3D Topology Preprocessing.

Steps

  1. Click the 3D Topology Preprocessing function. On the toolbar, click the "Add" button to include 3D line datasets requiring preprocessing in the dataset list box.
  2. Set Tolerances: Specify the tolerance value for topological preprocessing. This distance value determines the range within which nodes and/or lines are considered coincident. For example:
    - Nodes from different line objects within tolerance are considered coincident
    - Points within tolerance of line nodes are considered on the line
    See Tolerance Description for details.
  3. Node Snap: Snaps nodes within tolerance range to shared coordinates (modifying coordinates to match). "Nodes" include point features and all vertices of line/polygon features. When enabled:
    - Select a reference dataset to use its node positions as snap references
    - Removes redundant vertices within tolerance from lines/polygons
    Processing effects are shown below:

  4. Click OK to execute topological preprocessing on the dataset.
