continuation object
Function Description
The continuation object function is used to continue drawing a line from the end point of an existing line object, enabling segmented editing. It is often used in scenarios where long linear objects such as contour lines or roads cannot be drawn in one go. When editing again later, this function can be used to continue from the previous edit.
It is only available after the layer editing state is enabled.
Function Entry
- Edit Data tab -> Feature Editing group -> Line editing -> Trim the alignment > Continuation object
Operation Steps
- In an editable layer, select the line object to continue editing. Then, in the Edit Data tab's Line editing drop-down menu, click the Continuation object button in the Trim the alignment group. Alternatively, first click the Continuation object button; at this point, the mouse prompt in the map will say: "select a line object." Then select a line object you want to continue editing.
- At this point, the node at the end of the line will be displayed in red, and it will automatically continue from here for the previous edit. Click the left mouse button to draw.
- After completing the drawing, click the right mouse button to end.

Note:- Parametric objects do not currently support the continuation feature editing. If the selected object is a Parametric object, a message will be displayed in the output window: the selected object is a parametric object and does not support the line continuation function.
- When using the continuation object line, the default line type is a polyline, and switching to other line types is not currently supported.
