Modifying the mosaic datasets includes the following:
5. Balance Mosaic Dataset Color
Add Image
Feature Description
After creating the mosaic dataset, you can continue adding imagery files (*.tif, *.tiff, *.img) from local storage or cloud storage services to the current mosaic dataset.
Feature Entry
- Workspace Manager -> Right-click menu on the mosaic dataset in the datasource list -> Modify Mosaic Dataset -> Add Image -> Add Mosaic Dataset Dialog.
Manage Mosaic Datasets
Feature Description
Mosaic Dataset Management allows you to select imagery datasets that have not yet built image pyramids and create image pyramids for them with one click. It also enables deleting selected datasets and exporting file lists.
Feature Entry
- Workspace Manager -> Right-click menu on the mosaic dataset in the datasource list -> Modify Mosaic Dataset -> Manage Mosaic Dataset.
Rebuild Bounds
When the data in the mosaic dataset changes, such as deleting some images, adding new images, or the presence of clipped extents, clicking this function will rebuild the extent of the mosaic dataset. For details, see Rebuild Bounds.
For applications of rebuilding extent, refer to Image Map Configuration-Rebuild Layer Bounds.
Clip Display Extent
Feature Description
Clip Display Extent is used to set the display range of the current map window.
Feature Entry
- Workspace Manager -> Right-click menu on the mosaic dataset in the datasource list -> Modify Mosaic Dataset -> Clip Display Extent.
Operating Instructions
- Find Clip Display Extent through the function entry above. It provides four clipping methods: Select Object, Draw Rectangle, Draw Circle, and Draw Polygon.
-
Select one of the methods, draw the clipping extent in the map window, then right-click to finish drawing. The mosaic dataset in the map window will be displayed according to the drawn extent.
-
To clear the clipped display extent, click the Clear button to remove it.
Reassign Image Path
If the original image file location in the mosaic dataset changes, or if it is necessary to reassign the overview generation path, you can modify the file location path by reassigning the path.
Feature Entry
- Workspace Manager -> Right-click menu on the mosaic dataset in the datasource list -> Modify Mosaic Dataset -> Reassign Image Path.

When reassigning the image dataset path, the path must be complete.
Balance Mosaic Dataset Color
Feature Description
Balancing the mosaic dataset color involves specifying a reference image as the target for color balancing. The program will adjust the colors of the mosaic dataset based on this reference image to achieve a seamless transition between images.
Feature Entry
- Mosaic Dataset Context Menu-> Change Mosaic Dataset-> Balance Mosaic Dataset Colors in Workspace Manager-> Data source list.
-
Workspace Manager -> Right-click menu on the mosaic dataset in the datasource list -> Modify Mosaic Dataset -> Balance Mosaic Dataset Color.
Parameter Description

Variance Expansion Coefficient and Brightness Coefficient are available only when the color balancing method is set to Equalization Method.
- Reference Image Path: Sets the path of the reference image.
-
Color Balancing Method: Selects the method for adjusting image colors, providing Histogram Method and Equalization Method. The Histogram Method corrects colors based on the histogram information of the reference image, while the Equalization Method corrects colors using the Variance Expansion Coefficient and Brightness Coefficient.
-
Variance Expansion Coefficient: Available when the Equalization Method is selected. When brightness remains unchanged:
-
If variance = 1, the image contrast remains the same as the reference image.
-
If variance < 1, the contrast of the resulting image decreases as the variance decreases.
-
-
Brightness Coefficient: Available when the Equalization Method is selected. When the Variance Expansion Coefficient remains unchanged:
-
If the pixel mean of the reference image > the pixel mean of the original image, increasing the Brightness Coefficient increases the brightness of the resulting image.
-
If the pixel mean of the reference image < the pixel mean of the original image, increasing the Brightness Coefficient decreases the brightness of the resulting image.
-
Clear Color Balance
Feature Description
Clearing the balanced color removes the applied color balance and restores the mosaic dataset to its original colors.
Feature Entry
- Workspace Manager -> Right-click menu on the mosaic dataset in the datasource list -> Modify Mosaic Dataset -> Clear Color Balance.
