Import S-102

Feature Description

SuperMap iDesktopX supports importing *.h5 data that conforms to the S-102 data specification into file databases, database datasources (PostGIS or DMPlus), or EMS datasources. Note that the datasource used to import S-102 data cannot be a read-only datasource.

Function Entry

  • Start tab -> Data Processing group -> Data Import -> Chart -> S-102.
  • Datasource context menu -> Import Nautical Chart Data -> S-102.

Operation Steps

  1. Open or create a datasource in the workspace to store the *.h5 files.
  2. Select the datasource to import the nautical chart data into, and choose Import Nautical Chart Data -> S-102 from the context menu; or, with the target datasource selected, go to the Start tab -> Data Processing group -> Data Import drop-down menu -> Chart -> select S-102.
  3. In the Import Nautical Chart Data dialog box, select one or multiple S-102 *.h5 files and click Open.
  4. After selecting the files, the S-102 dialog box lists the selected files and provides the following parameters for viewing and editing:
    • Source File: Displays the name of the imported *.h5 file. This field is not editable.
    • Source Data: Displays the path of the imported chart data. This field is not editable.
    • Target Datasource: Displays the name of the target datasource. You can select another datasource from the current workspace using the drop-down list.
  5. After setting the parameters above, click the Import button to complete the import of the S-102 chart data. The data will be displayed as raster data under the corresponding datasource in the Workspace Manager.

Browse Bathymetric Surface Data

After importing the S-102 file as a raster dataset, you can click or hold Shift to batch select the raster datasets you want to view, and then choose Add to New Map or Add to Current Map from the context menu to quickly browse the bathymetric surface data.

You can set the Depth Color and Depth Contour in the S100 Attribute tab of the Nautical Chart Properties panel. The display colors in the map will change accordingly, as shown in the figure below:
