S-111, formally known as the Surface Currents Product Specification, is used to describe the spatial distribution and temporal variation of surface water currents in sea areas. S-111 data includes the location, speed, direction, time, and related metadata of surface currents, providing standardized surface current information for marine navigation, port scheduling, and marine environment analysis.
S-111 data is typically stored in *.h5 files that conform to the product specification. SuperMap iDesktopX supports managing S-111 surface current data, including importing *.h5 data that conforms to the S-111 product specification, and performing symbolic display on surface current features based on the S-111 display catalog specification.
S-111 surface current data is applicable to the following scenarios:
- Marine navigation: Assisting in route planning and navigation situation analysis based on the speed and direction of surface currents.
- Port and nearshore operations: Viewing surface current information of target sea areas to provide references for vessel scheduling and operational arrangements.
- Marine environment analysis: Browsing surface current data over time to analyze the spatial distribution and variation of water currents in sea areas.
SuperMap iDesktopX has supported the import and display of S-111 surface current data since the 2026 version.
This chapter introduces the following content:
- Importing S-111 Data: Describes how to import *.h5 files that conform to the S-111 product specification and browse the data after adding it to the map.
- S-111 Data Display Settings: Describes how to set the display time and data extent of S-111 data.
