Create Chart Group
The second step in chart data production is creating chart groups, which is the key step in creating nautical charts from scratch. When creating groups, you need to establish or configure detailed chart information including feature signature sequences, map range, version number, purpose, scale, vertical datum, and depth datum. The wizard-guided creation process in SuperMap iDesktopX assists you in quickly completing chart group creation. After creation, you can also perform type conversion on editable groups to meet additional requirements.
This chapter covers the following topics:
- Create FOID: Describes how to assign unique identifiers (FOID) to each feature in electronic charts by creating signature sequences, ensuring data uniqueness, traceability, and international standardization compliance.
- Create Editable Chart Group: Explains how to produce a new nautical chart by creating an editable chart group.
- Chart Group Conversion: Describes how to switch S-57 or CJ-57 chart groups between editable and non-editable states to fulfill editing, publishing, and maintenance requirements, achieving flexible data management and reliable publication.
