Feature Trim
Trim

Feature Description

Removes length from a line until it intersects another line.

  • Trims objects using the cutting edge defined by the baseline object. When using the trim tool, first select the line feature (baseline) for trimming, then click the intersecting segment to be trimmed. The clicked portion will be removed.
  • Applies to line layer objects or CAD layer line objects. The target layer must be editable.
  • Trimming only affects line objects intersecting with the baseline. Non-intersecting lines remain unchanged.
  • Target objects must be simple line objects. Baseline can be complex or simple line objects, but cannot be compound.
  • For continuous trimming of multiple lines intersecting with the same baseline: select baseline first, then consecutively trim intersecting lines.

Feature Entry

  • Features tab->Feature Editing group dropdown->Trim.

Steps

  1. In Features tab's Feature Editing group Gallery control, click Trim button. Cursor prompt: "Select base line".
  2. Select a line object as baseline. Cursor prompt: "Click segment to trim".
  3. Select the portion to remove.

    After trimming, baseline remains. The segment containing click position gets deleted. New object's system fields (except SmUserID) are auto-assigned. Non-system fields and SmUserID retain original attributes.
