Feature
Split
Note:
Split
Feature Description
The Split function is used to split line objects into new objects.
- This function allows splitting line objects at any position clicked by the mouse.
- Applicable layers include line layers or CAD layers containing line objects. The target layer must be editable.
- During splitting operations, the snapping function can be enabled for precise positioning, particularly useful when splitting at line intersections.
- If the selected split point is an intersection of multiple objects, the Select the object that you want to break dialog will appear, allowing selection of objects to split. Selected objects will be highlighted on the map.
- Special handling for closed objects:
In SuperMap, closed line objects are considered to have coinciding start and end points (endpoints).
When splitting closed line objects (e.g., circles, rectangles), the system automatically splits both endpoints simultaneously, generating two separate line objects.
- After splitting, newly created line objects are temporarily displayed in different colors for visual distinction.
Feature Entry
- Features Tab->Feature Editing Group Dropdown->Split.
Steps
- Click the Split button in the Feature Editing group's Gallery control under the Features tab to initiate splitting.
- Map cursor prompt: Click to break. Click the desired position on the target object to perform splitting. New line objects will temporarily display in distinct colors (red and blue).
After operation completion, the original line object is deleted. The newly created objects (number of splits +1) will inherit non-system field attributes from the original object, with system fields automatically assigned.
- When splitting at intersection points of multiple objects, use the Select the object that you want to break dialog to choose target objects. Selected objects will be highlighted in map view.

The Split function is unavailable for parametric objects (e.g., arcs, three-point arcs, splines). Parametric objects may exist in CAD datasets.
