Feature
Extend
Note:
Extend
Feature Description
The Extend function allows extending two or more non-intersecting line objects to ensure their eventual intersection.
- In an editable layer, extend the selected line object (or line objects in a CAD layer) to the specified object (base line).
- When selecting lines for extension, click positions on the extension lines closer to the base line direction.
- During extension operation, once a line object is selected as base line, you can only continuously extend other line objects to this base line.
- Extension operation only works for line objects that would intersect with the base line after extension. No operation will be performed on lines that cannot intersect.
- In line layers: Base lines can be any type of line object (straight line, parallel line, circle, etc.) or complex line objects. Extendable lines can be any unclosed simple line objects (straight line, polyline, arc, etc.). Note: Parallel lines are complex objects containing two sub-objects.
- In CAD layers: Both base lines and lines to be extended must be line objects with object type as line. Check object type through object properties' geo information.
Feature Entry
- Features Tab->Feature Editing Group dropdown->Extend.
Steps
- Click Extend button in Feature Editing Group's Gallery control under Features Tab. The cursor prompt will display: Select base line.
- After selecting a line object as base line, the map will prompt: Click the line to extend.
- Click the line object to be extended. Ensure to select the position closer to the base line direction. The application will automatically extend the near endpoint to the base line. No extension occurs if clicking the endpoint away from base line direction.
- To extend other line objects to this base line, continue clicking target lines.
- Press ESC key to terminate operation.
Or perform:
Right-click to end.
Before Extension After Extension

If the extension line of the line to be extended does not intersect with the base line, the extend operation cannot be performed.
