Layer Control

Function Description

Layers include Point Layer, Line Layer, Surface Layer, Text Layer, Grid/Image Layer, Thematic Map Layer, Layer Group, etc. All Layers are shown superimposed in Layer Manager. Map layers can be controlled through Layer Control and Layer nodes can be dragged in the Layer Control Drop-down Button in Layer Manager.

  • Layer Control: Layer Control is used to control the status and attributes of a single layer or multiple layers in a Map. The Layer Control dialog shows All Layers in the current Map and the status and attributes of each layer. The user can modify the state of the layer, whether it is displayable, selectable, editable, capturable, whether the symbol is Scale with Map Zoom, scale, etc., and other display styles, adjust the order of the layer, add or remove the layer, etc.
  • Layer nodes can be dragged: Set whether layer nodes can be dragged. The user can fix the layer order in Layer Manager to prevent misoperation caused by dragging when there are too many layers.

Layer Control dialog description

The Layer Control dialog consists of a toolbar, a layer list, and a function setting area:

  • Toolbar: It provides common tools such as Add Layer, Remove Layer, Select All Layers, and Select Invert Layers. It also provides tools such as Top, Move Up, Move Down, and Bottom to adjust the Display Order of layers.
  • Layer List: lists All Layers and Display Order in the current Map. Use with the Top, Move Up, Move Down, and Bottom tools in the toolbar to adjust the order of the layers in the list.
  • Function setting area: For different Data Types, the function setting area provides corresponding operations to help the user control the state and attributes of the layer.

General Parameter Description

  • Displayable: Used to control the visibility of the Vector Layer. Check to show the preceding check box to indicate that the layer is visible; otherwise, it is not visible. If Displayable is unchecked, the Selectable, Editable, and Snap Settings items are not available.
  • Selectable: Used to control whether the layer can be selected, that is, whether the objects in the layer can be selected. Check the check box in front of Selectable to indicate that the layer is selectable, that is, the objects in the layer are selectable; otherwise, it is not selectable.
  • Editable: Used to control whether the Vector Layer is editable, that is, whether the objects in the layer can be edited. Click the check box in front of Editable to indicate that the layer is editable, that is, the objects in the layer are editable; otherwise, they are not editable.
  • Capturable: It is used to control whether the Vector Layer can be captured, that is, whether the objects in the Vector Layer can be captured when selecting, editing, etc. In the Vector Layer.
  • Layer Name: The layer name used to display the layer. Layer Name cannot be modified. The name of the layer is Unique Identifier in the map where the layer is located.
  • Layer Caption: Used to display the Layer Caption of the layer. You can modify the Layer Caption. After modification, the Show Name of the layer in the Layer Manager changes, but the name of the corresponding Dataset in the Space Manager does not change.
  • Transparency: Used to set the transparency of the layer. Enter the transparency value in the text box on the right or click the arrow symbol on the right, and drag the slider in the pop-up Transparency Settings slider to adjust the transparency of the layer. The value of transparency is an integer between 0 and 100. 0 means opaque and 100 means completely transparent.
  • Blend Mode: It is used to set the overlay mode between two layers. The color of the upper layer and the color of the lower layer are overlaid and calculated to obtain different shading effects. The specific effect depends on the selected mode. Please refer to the Set Layer Common Properties for details.
  • Fill Mode: It is used to control the drawing mode of fill symbol, supports global mode and object mode, and enriches the expression of fill symbol in the map. Please refer to the Set Layer Common Properties for details.
  • Weight: Used to set the Display Order of label layer and text layer. The higher the weight value, the higher the layer display priority. Commonly used for Display Control with multiple labels and text layers in the same location.
    Caution:

For this function, first select the Label Alwasy Top check box under the Map Properties panel.

  • Minimum Visible Scale: Set the Minimum Visible Scale of the selected layer. Enter the scale value to be set in the textbox on the right, such as 1:500000, or click the Drop-down Button to select the corresponding scale to set. After Layer Settings Minimum Visible Scale, if the scale of the map is smaller than Minimum Visible Scale set for the selected layer, the selected layer will not be visible. The default is 1:0, which means no Minimum Visible Scale is set for that layer.
  • Maximum Visible Scale: Set the Maximum Visible Scale of the selected layer. Enter the scale value to be set in the text box on the right, such as 1:100000, or click the Drop-down Button to select the corresponding scale to set. After Layer Settings Maximum Visible Scale, if the scale of the map is larger than Maximum Visible Scale set for the selected layer, the selected layer will not be visible. The default is 1:0, which means no Maximum Visible Scale is set for that layer.
  • Change Dataset: Used to reassign the referenced Dataset for the current layer, that is, to associate the new Dataset displayed as assigned. Click the button on the right side of the text box. In the pop-up Change Dataset dialog box, you can specify a new reference Dataset for the layer. Click the drop-down arrows to the right of the Datasource and Dataset, respectively, to select the Dataset to reference and the Datasource where the Dataset is located. See: Change Dataset for more information .

Vector Parameters

When Vector Layer is selected, the setting options of Vector Parameters will appear, including parameters such as Complete Line, Optimize Cross, Scale Symbol, object minimum size, display Filter, etc. For detailed parameter descriptions, see the Process the Vector Layer .

Image Parameters

When Image Layer is selected, the setting options of Image Parameters will appear, including the brightness, contrast, transparent color, interpolation mode, Display Method and stretching of Image Layer. For detailed parameter descriptions, see the Working with ImagesLayer Properties .

Grid Parameters

When Raster Layer is selected, the setting options of Grid Parameters will appear, which include the parameters of Raster Layer, such as brightness, contrast, color table, specified grid value style, grid function, etc. For detailed parameter descriptions, see the Process the Raster Layer .

Caution:
When the

Network Dataset is loaded into the Map, it will include two layers: the network node layer and the network layer. The Layer Control of a network node layer is similar to a normal point layer, and the Layer Control of a network line layer is similar to a normal line layer.
