3D Network Dataset

The Network Data model is used to store data models with Network Topology. Network Data model contains network line data and network node Point Dataset, and also contains the spatial Topology between arcs, arcs and nodes, nodes and nodes. In the Network Dataset, the Line Dataset is the primary Dataset, and the Point Dataset is the child Dataset.

The traditional way of displaying Network Data in a two-dimensional plane limits the expression of information to a certain extent, especially in the complex spatial location relationship, which inevitably affects the accuracy and availability of Network Analysis. 3D Network is a real simulation of the real network, not an abstract simulation, so it can show information in all directions.

The 3D Network Dataset is the data base for 3D Network Analysis. Similar to the two-dimensional network model, the three-dimensional network model is divided into the three-dimensional facility network model and the three-dimensional traffic network model; similarly, the network is described by using the spatial Topology of arcs and nodes. The fundamental difference between the two is that the 3D Network model uses (X, y, Z) to represent spatial locations.

SuperMap iDesktopX provides two ways to generate 3D Network Dataset: Build 3D Network and Custom 3D Network Construction. Build 3D Network is to generate 3D Network Dataset based on 3D points and Line Dataset, or 3D points and Network Dataset, or 3D Line Dataset; Custom 3D Network Construction generates the 3D Network Dataset based on the existing Topology 3D points and Line Dataset.

Data Preparation Job:

  1. Prepare Dataset for Build Network Data
    • Prepare the data for the Build Network data. Data Types that can be used to Build Network data include Point Dataset, Line Dataset, and Network Dataset. The point data is optional. If the point data is not selected, the Network Dataset can also be constructed. When the Network Dataset is constructed, it is equivalent to reconstructing the Network Data by using other point and line data.
  2. Get ready to Network DatasetSelect Fields.
    • Make sure that the required Property Fields, such as fields representing time and distance information, are included in the point and line data used for netting.
    • During path analysis, if text information of Driving Guidance needs to be generated, please ensure that the line data used for network construction contains the fields of required indication information (such as Road Name and Site Name).

Edit 3D Network Dataset

3D Network Dataset supports editing operations. After editing a 3D Network Dataset, a new 3D Network Dataset can be generated from the 3D Build Topology Network. For editing operations of 3D Network Dataset, please refer to the Edit 3D Data page.

Note: 3D Build Topology Network must be performed on the edited 3D Network Dataset to regenerate the 3D Network Dataset before 3D Network Analysis can be performed.

Precautions

The data used to Build the 3D Network Dataset must have the same coordinate system, otherwise Build failed.
