Build 3D Network Dataset

Instructions for use

The Build 3D Network Dataset feature generates a 3D Network Dataset based on a specified 3D Point Dataset, Line Dataset, or just a 3D Point Dataset and Network Dataset. This function is generally applicable to 3D points and Line Dataset without Topology field. If the data has Topology, you can Build Topological Relationships again through this function.

Operation steps

  1. On the Traffic Analysis tab, in the Road Network Analysis group, click the Build Topology Network Drop-down Button to select Build 3D Network.
  2. A "Build 3D Network Dataset" "dialog box pops up as shown in the following figure.
Figure: Build 3D Network Dataset "Dialog
  3. Source Data Selection
Select the 3D Point Dataset participating in the network construction and the Datasource where it is located
    • at "Node Data". Note: 3D Point Dataset can be set as null, and the network construction can be performed only through 3D Line Dataset.
    • Select the 3D Line Dataset participating in the network construction and the Datasource where it is located
    • at "Edge Data".
  4. Result Field: "All Select Fields of Node Data are listed in the Reserved Fields for Node" list. " The Property Field participating in Build 3D Network Dataset can be selected through the check box; All Select Fields of Edge Data are listed in the Reserved Fields for Edge "list. Property Fields participating in Build 3D Network Dataset can be selected by checking the box. All fields are checked by default.
  5. Split Settings...
    • Split Line by Point: When this check box is checked, the line object is broken at its intersection with the point within tolerance. If the end of the line object intersects the point, the line is not broken.
    • Split Lines at Intersection: When this check box is selected, two or more intersecting line objects are broken at the intersection within the tolerance range. If a line object intersects the end of another line, the line object is broken at the intersection. In addition, when the "Split Lines at Intersection" "operation is checked, the" Split Line by Point "" will be checked by default, that is, the "Split Lines at Intersection" "function cannot be used alone.
    • Break Tolerance: sets the break tolerance, which is the node tolerance, and represents the minimum distance between line objects and between line objects and point objects. For example, if the node of a line object is within tolerance from the node of another line object, the two nodes are considered to be coincident; if the node of a line object is within tolerance from a point object, the point is considered to be on the line. The default value of the

tolerance is 1/1000000 of the left and right ranges of the Dataset. If there are multiple Datasets participating in the construction of the Network Dataset, the default value of the tolerance is calculated by referring to the Dataset with the largest left and right ranges. The tolerance units are the same as the Dataset units. It is recommended to use the default tolerance.

  6. Result Settings: Select the Datasource where the Result Dataset is located, and modify the name of the Result Dataset.
  7. Click the OK button to execute the build of the 3D Network Dataset, which will Auto Close "Build the 3D Network Dataset" dialog box.

Precautions

The data used to Build the 3D Network Dataset must have the same coordinate system, otherwise Build failed.
