Import RVT

Instructions for use

The Import RVT function is used to import BIM data in *.rvt format and add a Model Dataest node in Target Datasource. This feature requires Windows 10 and above for use in the Windows operating system architecture.

Function entrance

  • 3D Data tab-> Model group-> BIM drop-down menu-> Import RVT button
  • Toolbox -> 3D Data -> Data Import -> Import RVT

Operation steps

  1. Click the Import RVT button in the BIM drop-down menu in the Model group on the 3D Data tab to bring up the Import RVT "dialog box.
  2. Set the source RVT path: click the Select button on the right side of the RVT path, select the source RVT data in the pop-up Open dialog box, and then click Open.
  3. Set Result Datasource: Select the Existing data source in Workspace Manager in the drop-down menu.
  4. Set Model Center Point: Enter coordinate values at Model Center PointX/Model Center PointY/Model Center PointZ to determine the model insertion point after import.
  5. Parameter Settings:
    • Display Mode: Set Model Display Mode, including realistic and shaded. Realistic mode means that when the data has a map, the map is preserved without color, and when there is no map, the color is preserved. Shading mode means to keep the color regardless of the mapping.
    • View name: enter the name of a 3D view in the RVT data to import the specified data.
      • When this parameter is not set, if there is no 3D view in the RVT data, the Data will not be imported; if there is a 3D view, the data in the currently activated 3D view in the RVT data will be imported first, otherwise, the data in the first 3D view in the RVT data view list will be imported.
      • Different views may have different settings for filter colors, crop boxes, object visibility, and so on. Therefore, the imported data may be different when different view names are set.
    • Rotation Angle: Set Model Rotation angle with the project base point as the rotation center, which is the angle from true north along the counterclockwise direction.
    • Material library path: In an environment where revit software is not installed, you need to manually specify the material library path; if it is installed, you do not need to set it, and it will be automatically obtained from the registry.
    • Ignore Null Attributes: Sets whether to ignore null attributes. When checked, the property will not be imported if there is no value in the Property Field.
    • Generate PBR material: It is used to set whether the PBR material is included in the Import Data. If RVT data has PBR material, it will be imported if checked; otherwise, it will not be imported.
  6. Projection Settings: The Projected Coordinate System can be set in either Projection Settings or Import Projection File. Please refer to the Set Projected Coordinate System. for detailed operation steps.
  7. When Parameter Settings is complete, click the Import button to execute. After completion, a Model Dataest node will be added under Target Datasource of Workspace Manager.
