Import IFC

Instructions for use

"Import IFC" command is used to import BIM data in IFC format and add Model Dataest node in Datasource.

IFC standard is a construction data exchange standard issued by the International Alliance for Cooperative Work (IAI) (International Alliance for Interoperability) for the construction industry. It is a standard format for some industries. At present, the commonly used BIM software such as Revit, Bentley, Tekla and so on have supported the export of BIM data in IFC format.

Operation steps

  1. Click the Import IFC button in the BIM drop-down menu in the Model group on the 3D Data tab to bring up the Data Import "dialog box.
  2. Select the IFC data to be imported in the pop-up Open dialog box through the Add button.
  3. File List: The File List displays the currently opened files. You can select a specific IFC file to import.
  4. Basic Info settings
    • Target Datasource: Select the imported Datasource by right-clicking the Drop-down Button.
    • Target Dataset: The name of the opened Model Dataest.
    • Import Mode: The default is None. Provides three modes: None, Append, and Overwrite.
  5. Parameter Settings:
    • Model Reference Point (Centre Point at the bottom of the model): The position of the model when it is imported, represented by a Point3D. The default anchor point is (0,0,0), and the input value can be customized.
    • Projection Settings: The Projected Coordinate System can be set in either Projection Settings or Import Projection File. Please refer to "Set Projected Coordinate System." "for detailed operation steps.
  6. Click the Import button to open the IFC file. At the same time, an IFCDataset node is added under Target Datasource in Workspace Manager.
Caution:
  • Currently, only IFC4x, IFC4, IFC2x4, IFC2x3, IFC2x2, IFC2x, IFC20 and other versions are supported.
