Block Adjustment

Feature Description

Block adjustment is a high-precision geometric correction method that calculates orientation parameters for satellite images by adjusting measured tie points and ground control points within stereo or planar block areas. This method effectively eliminates systematic and random errors, suitable for large-area image coverage or multi-image mosaic processing scenarios.

SuperMap ImageX Pro supports this feature from version 11i(2023).

Feature Entry

Imagery tab->Geometric Correction group->Block Adjustment.

Parameter Description

  • Input Image Type:Default images are from original image mosaic dataset. Select the image type participating in block adjustment. Options include Panchromatic Image, Multispectral Image, Forward-looking Image, Rear-view Image, and Front View and Rear View Image. Default is Panchromatic Image.
  • Reference Adjustment File:When processing different batches of images for the same area, use adjustment files from processed batches to ensure edge matching accuracy and plane accuracy comparable to existing results. Use Add/Delete buttons to manage multiple reference adjustment files.
  • Adjustment Mode:Select adjustment solution method. Options are Unconstrained Tie Point Elevation and Constrained Tie Point Elevation. Default is Constrained Tie Point Elevation.
    • Unconstrained Tie Point Elevation:Retains initial elevation values without updates.
    • Constrained Tie Point Elevation:Updates tie point elevations iteratively based on adjustment results.
  • Correction Model Type:Options include Linear RPC Correction Model, Quadratic Polynomial RPC Correction Model, and Cubic Polynomial RPC Correction Model. Default is Linear RPC Correction Model.
    • Linear RPC Correction Model:Suitable for images with minor internal distortion. Requires minimum 4 ground control points. Use Manage Ground Control Points to add control points.
    • Quadratic Polynomial RPC Correction Model:Suitable for moderate internal distortion. Requires minimum 9 ground control points.
    • Cubic Polynomial RPC Correction Model:Suitable for significant internal distortion. Requires minimum 16 ground control points.
  • Result RPC Path:Specify adjustment result save path. Default path: image workflow folder/Adjustment/BlockAdjustment.
  • Default Adjustment File Path:Adjustment file (*.csv) stores participating images and RPC file paths.
    • Checked:Default path: image workflow folder/Adjustment/BlockAdjustment/AdjustmentFile.csv.
    • Unchecked:Default path: installation directory/AdjustmentFile.csv.
Note:

After successful execution, detailed adjustment information and adjustment file path will display in output window. Click the path to directly open files.
