Use Layer Group

Function Description

The Layer Group function can be used to manage the layers in groups, so as to realize the unified control of the displayable, editable and visible scale range of All Layers in the Layer Group. A Layer Group can also contain a Layer Group.

Create a Layer Group

There are three ways to create a Layer Group:

  • Method 1: Select the Create New Group button in the Layer Manager toolbar to create a blank Layer Group;
  • Method 2: Select Create New Group in the blank area of Layer Manager or the existing Layer Group Context Menu to create a blank Layer Group;
  • Method 3: Select Move to group-> New group in the Context Menu of Layer Manager (select one or more layers) to create a group containing the selected layer;

Move Layer to Group

Provides two ways to add a layer to an existing layer:

  • Method 1: In Layer Manager, select one or more layers/layer groups and drag them to the Layer Group to add the selected layers/layer groups to the specified Layer Group.
  • Method 2: In Layer Manager, select one or more layers/layer groups, and add the selected layers/layer groups to the specified Layer Group through the Move to group function in the Context Menu.
Caution:
  • You cannot select multiple layers/groups across Layer Groups, that is, you cannot select multiple layers/groups in Layer GroupA and Layer GroupB at the same level.
  • Support the replication of Layer Group in Layer Manager, and realize the replication of multiple layers in the form of grouping.

Layer Group property

Layer Group is used to manage All Layers under this group. You can view the Attributes of Layer Group through the Attribute button in the Layer Group Context Menu.

  • Displayable: If the Displayable check box is selected, All Layers under the selected Layer Group will be visible; if the Displayable check box is not selected, All Layers under the selected Layer Group will not be visible.
  • Layer Name: Used to display the name of the selected Layer Group. The name of the Layer Group cannot be modified. The name of the Layer Group is the Unique identifier of the Layer Group in the map where the group is located.
  • Layer Caption: used to display the title of the selected Layer Group. You can modify the title of a Layer Group. After modification, the Show Name of the Layer Group in the Layer Manager changes, but the name of the Layer Group does not change.
  • Minimum Visible Scale: The combo box is used to set the Minimum Visible Scale of All Layers in the Layer Group. After a layer Group Settings Minimum Visible Scale, if the map's scale bar is smaller than Minimum Visible Scale of the layer's Group Settings, All Layers in the Layer Group will not be visible. You can use the spin box to the right of Minimum Visible Scale to enter a scale value, such as 1:500000, or Current MapScale Settings to Minimum Visible Scale. You can also click the Drop-down Button on the right and select Scale Settings as the Minimum Visible Scale. The drop-down options are 8 scales from the default 1:5000 to 1:1000000; If Fixed Scales is set for the map, the optional scale of the drop-down item is the fixed scale.
  • Maximum Visible Scale: The combo box is used to set the Maximum Visible Scale of All Layers in the Layer Group. After a layer Group Settings Maximum Visible Scale, if the map scale is larger than Maximum Visible Scale of the layer's Group Settings, All Layers in the Layer Group will not be visible. You can use the spin box to the right of Maximum Visible Scale to enter a scale value, such as 1:500000, or Current MapScale Settings to Maximum Visible Scale. You can also click the Drop-down Button on the right to select a Scale Settings as the Maximum Visible Scale. The drop-down options include 8 scales from the default 1:5000 to 1:1000000; If Fixed Scales is set for the map, the optional scale of the drop-down item is the fixed scale.
