By creating a new Marker Symbol Library, the point symbol in the Marker Symbol Library can be expanded. By creating a new point symbol, both a two-dimensional point symbol and a 3D Marker can be created. The 2D point symbol is used to symbolize point objects in the map; the 3D Marker is used to symbolize point objects in the scene, and can also symbolize point objects in the map. The following details how to complete the process of creating a new point symbol.
Create a new 2D point symbol
- Through the symbol grouping structure tree, the symbol grouping where the newly created point symbol is located is located, and the newly created symbol is added to the currently displayed symbol path in the Select device by default;
- In the Selector, click the Edit button and select New Symbol-> New 2D Point Symbol. The Marker Symbol Editor will open and you can create a new point symbol in the Marker Symbol Editor;
Here, you must specify the new symbol number, Symbol Name, and the new symbol must contain at least one stroke, that is, the new symbol cannot be empty, so that you can successfully create a new point symbol by clicking the OK button in the Marker Symbol Editor. The new point symbol appears in the list of current point symbols in the Marker Symbol Selector.
- Sets the Attributes of the new point symbol. The Symbol Properties that must be specified are: Symbol Number and Symbol Name;
- Symbol Number: The symbol number is used to uniquely identify the symbol in the symbol library. In the same symbol library, the number of the new symbol cannot be the same as the number of the existing symbol in the symbol library.
- Symbol Name: The Show name of the symbol in the symbol library. In the same symbol library, the symbol name can have the same name.
- Symbol origin: It is used to set the position of the origin of the symbol in the symbol editing area. In addition, the origin of the symbol is also the anchor point of the symbol. When symbolizing the point object, the position of the drawing point will be on the coordinate point of the point object.
- Default Size: Set the Default Size of the point symbol. When the user sets the size of the point symbol through the Marker Symbol Selector, if the specified size value is 0, the size of the point symbol will take the numerical value of the Default Size. The value of the dot symbol Default Size ranges from 0 to 25.5 in millimeters.
- In the symbol editing area, draw the graphic content contained in the new point symbol. The production of the point symbol is not described in detail here. Only a Point is drawn here;
To do this, click the button that draws the Point, and then click anywhere in the symbol editing area to add a Point to the new point symbol.
- After setting the Attributes of the symbol and drawing at least one Geometry (stroke) point symbol, click the "OK" button in the symbol editor to complete the creation of the point symbol, and the new point symbol will appear in the current Marker Symbol Library.
The newly created point symbol can be edited again to further improve the point symbol. Just select the point symbol in the Marker Symbol Selector and click the "Edit" button to open the point symbol in the Marker Symbol Editor for further editing.
The newly created point symbol in the symbol library is finally saved in the symbol library through the following ways:
- If the current symbol library is a Marker Symbol Library in the resource collection of a Workspace, you can save the newly created symbol to the Marker Symbol Library by saving the Workspace;
- By exporting the current Marker Symbol Library in the Marker Symbol Selector as a Marker Symbol Library file, you can save the newly created point symbol to the Marker Symbol Library file. You can obtain a new point symbol by loading the Marker Symbol Library file.
Create a new 3D Marker
- Locate the symbol grouping of the newly created 3D Marker through the symbol grouping structure tree, and add the newly created symbol to the currently displayed symbol path in the Select device by default;
- In the selector, click the "Edit" button and select "New Symbol"-> "New 3D Symbol";
- Open the 3D Marker Editor, as shown in the following figure (left). In the 3D Marker Editor, you can set the Model corresponding to the 3D Marker and the display style of the Model. Click the Set Model "button in 3D Marker Editor to bring up the Open dialog box, select a Model File (*.sgm or 3ds file), and open it. The creation process of the
3D Marker is as follows: firstly, a Model to be used as the 3D Marker is created, and the Model that can be used as the 3D Marker includes an SGM model and a 3D Max model, which are stored as *.sgm and 3ds files respectively; Then, through the function of creating a new 3D Symbol in the Marker Symbol Library, the Model is loaded into the symbol library as a 3D Marker.
Note When importing a 3D Model, the size of the imported 3ds file cannot exceed 60KB.
- After selecting and opening the Model File, you can preview the Model in the selected Model File in the 3D Marker Editor, and set the Attributes of the newly created 3D Marker. And adjusting the style of the Model to produce a Model that meets the requirements.
Here, the symbol number and Symbol Name of the newly created 3D Marker must be specified, so that a new 3D Symbol can be successfully created by clicking the "OK" button in the 3D Marker Editor. The newly created 3D Symbol appears in the list of current point symbols in the Marker Symbol Selector.
- Scale: It is used to stretch the Model in X, Y and Z coordinate directions. When setting the value, you can directly enter the value in the value box, or click the arrow on the right to pop up the slider, adjust the position of the slider, or click the zoom in or zoom out button to set the value.
- Rotate: Rotate the Model in X, Y, and Z directions. When setting the value, you can directly enter the value in the value box, or click the arrow on the right to pop up the slider, adjust the position of the slider, or click the zoom in or zoom out button to set the value.
- Snapping Setting: It is used to create a snapshot of the Model displayed in the preview area, that is, to obtain an image. The effect of the snapshot will be displayed in the Snapping Setting area. Snapshots are used to: The thumbnail of the point symbol displayed by the
newly created 3D Marker in the symbol list of the Marker Symbol Selector is the snapshot of the setting;
If 3D Marker is selected as the Point Marker Style when symbolizing a point object in the map, the point symbol displayed on the map is the set snapshot.
- After completing the necessary settings in the 3D Marker Editor, click the OK button on the editor to add the created 3D Marker to the list of point symbols in the current Marker Symbol Selector.
The preview area of 3D Marker Editor provides rich mouse and keyboard operations to preview the Model from different angles and directions. Refer to "Preview Area Browsing Operation" in the: Introduction to 3D Linear Symbol Editor Interface .
