Instructions for use

The user can modify various Parameter Settings of the Graduated Symbols Map in the "Graduated Symbols Map" "window to realize the thematic map effect more in line with the requirements.

Operation steps

  1. Select a Graduated Symbols Map layer in Layer Manager, right-click the Modify Thematic Map "command, or double-click the theme layer. The setting information of the currently selected Graduated Symbols Map is displayed in the pop-up Graduated Symbols Map "window.
  2. Thematic Map Layer: Displays the name of the currently rendered thematic map.
  3. Expression: Used to display and set the Thematic variable used to make the current Graduated Symbols Map, that is, the mathematical expression of a single Property Field or field.
    • Click the Drop-down Button of the combo box to the right of the Expression: The drop-down list that pops up lists all the Property Fields used to make the Vector Dataset of the current Graduated Symbols Map.
    • In the drop-down list, select the Thematic variable (single Property Field) of the current Graduated Symbols Map layer; Users can also click the "Expression.." "Item in the drop-down list to build the field expression in the pop-up" SQL Expression "" dialog box. Thematic variable as a Graduated Symbols Map.

Note For data Create Thematic Map of Oracle Plus and SQL Plus engine types, field expression can only be field value or field expression, such as (SmID) or (SmID + 1). The By Conditions expression is not currently supported to set the way the thematic map fields are set. If the set field expression is a conditional expression, such as "SmID & gt;" 100 ", then the thematic map produced will fail, and the Output Window will prompt" Thematic map update failed ".

  4. Grading Method: It is used to determine the size of Graduated Symbols. Click the Drop-down Button, and all the grade values Calculator Method provided by Application are listed in the pop-up drop-down list. The user can select the appropriate grade value Calculator Method in the drop-down list according to the drawing requirements.
    • Constant: The grading operation is based on the linear proportion of the original value in the property table.
    • Square Root: The scaling operation is performed in proportion to the square root of the original value in the attribute table.
    • Logarithm: The grading operation is performed in proportion to the natural logarithm of the original value in the attribute table.
  5. Reference value: It is used to set the value represented by the system Marker Size. Based on this value, the system will automatically calculate the Marker Size corresponding to the remaining values according to the grading method. The larger the reference value, the smaller the final Display Size of the dot symbol. The range of valid values for the base value is the same as the range of the Thematic variable.
    • You can enter the base value size in the text box on the right.
  6. Symbol Style Settings: Click the button on the right side of the "Positive", "Show Zero" "and" Show Negative "" labels to pop up the "Style Settings" "window, and set the style of the positive reference value, zero value and negative value Graduated Symbols. You must select the check box to the left of the corresponding category before setting the style for zero and negative values. Changes in Marker Style for positive base values, zero values, and negative values have no effect on each other.
    • Positive Reference Value Style: Sets the rendering style when the field expression value is Positive Graduated Symbols. Click The button on the right of the tab to pop up the Style Settings "window (i.e. Symbol Library window, see Symbol Library window for details). In this window, you can set the display style of the positive reference value Graduated Symbols.
    • Show Zero: Select this check box so that objects with a field expression value of zero can be rendered in a thematic style, otherwise they will not be rendered. Click The button on the right of the tab to pop up the Style Settings "window (i.e. Symbol Library window, see Symbol Library window for details). You can set the display style of the zero-valued Graduated Symbols in this window.
    • Show Negative: Select this check box so that objects with a negative value in the field expression can be rendered with the theme style, otherwise they will not be rendered. Click The button on the right of the tab to pop up the Style Settings "window (i.e. Symbol Library window, see Symbol Library window for details). You can set the display style of negative Graduated Symbols in this window.
    • Flow: Select this check box, and the rendering style of the thematic map can be Flow Display, that is, Graduated Symbols will move with the change of Map to achieve the optimized effect of Show All. When the Flow effect is enabled, do not use the Partly Refresh function, otherwise the Partly Refresh effect will be displayed incorrectly (iDesktopX does not support the Partly Refresh function).
  7. Offset Settings:
    • Offset unit: The Drop-down Button on the right side of the tab is used to set the unit of the offset value. Click the Drop-down Button, and in the pop-up drop-down menu, the system provides two offset units of "Unit" and "0.1mm" for the user to select. "0.1mm" indicates that the offset of the symbol is in the unit of 0.1mm; "Unit" indicates that the offset set is consistent with the unit of Map Coordinate System.
    • Offset X: Sets the Offset X of the Graduated Symbols relative to the object it represents. You can directly enter a numerical value to set the offset, or select a numerical field of the layer and use the field value as the offset.
    • Offset Y: Used to set the Offset Y of Graduated Symbols relative to the object it represents. You can directly enter a numerical value to set the offset, or select a numerical field of the layer and use the field value as the offset.
    • Show Leader Line: If the check box is selected, when the Graduated Symbols are offset from the object to which they are labeled, they can be connected with a pull line; At the same time, the "Line Style" button on the right side of the label is available. Click this button to pop up the "Style Settings" window, and the user can set the symbol style of the traction line. For details, see: Line Symbol Style Settings .
  8. The Parameter Settings in the Graduated Symbols Map "window will be reflected to the corresponding thematic map layer in the current Map in real time, that is, WYSIWYG. You can also disable Enable Real-time Refresh by unchecking the Enable Instant Refresh "checkbox at the bottom of the dialog box. If the "Enable Instant Refresh" "check box is not checked, the user can click the" Apply "button at the bottom of the dialog box to apply the Parameter Settings in the dialog box to the current thematic map after completing the Parameter Settings.
