Use Thematic Map Template

Load Thematic Map Templates

The Load Thematic Map Templates feature enables thematic map creation for vector or raster layers using loaded templates.

Thematic map templates are essentially *.xml files containing style information.

Steps

  1. Right-click a vector/raster layer node in the Layer Manager, select "Thematic Map Template" -> "Load..." from the context menu;
  2. In the "Load Template" dialog, select the desired thematic map template file (*.xml) and click "Open";
  3. The application generates the thematic map for the layer based on the selected template.

Notes

  • The application provides a thematic map template library with various predefined templates. Users can save custom styles as templates into this library.
  • The template library is located in subfolders under "Installation directory\Templates\Theme", corresponding to different thematic types. Subfolder names match the groups ("Unique Values", "Ranges", etc.) in the "Thematic Map" tab, and template dropdown buttons retrieve information from corresponding subfolders.
  • Thematic maps are generated based on selected fields in "Expression". Successful template application requires matching field names between the target layer and template's expression.

Output Thematic Map Template

The Output Thematic Map Template feature exports a thematic map's style and attributes as a template for application to other layers.

Steps

  1. Right-click a vector/raster layer node in the Layer Manager, select "Thematic Map Template" -> "Export..." from the context menu;
  2. In the "Save As Template" dialog, specify the save location and filename (*.xml), then click "Save".

Save to Thematic Map Template Library

The application allows users to save custom thematic maps as templates into the library for future reuse.

Steps

  1. Right-click a vector/raster thematic layer node in the Layer Manager, select "Thematic Map Template" -> "Save to Library...";
  2. In the "Save As Thematic Map Template" dialog, enter a template name;
  3. Use the dropdown button next to "Save Location" to select destination. Default location is the corresponding template library;
  4. Click "New Folder" to create storage directories. Saved templates are stored in subfolders under "Installation directory\Templates\Theme" corresponding to thematic types;
  5. After saving, access new templates through the "Templates" dropdown in relevant thematic map groups under the "Thematic Map" tab.

Notes

  • The application provides a template library with various pre-made templates. Users can add custom thematic maps to this library.
  • The library structure mirrors the "Thematic Map" tab's organization, with subfolders corresponding to thematic groups ("Unique Values", "Ranges", etc.).

Important Notes

Besides using built-in management features, users can directly manage template files in "Installation directory\Templates\Theme\Unique".
