View Datasource Properties

Feature Description

Select one or more datasources whose attributes need to be viewed in Workspace Manager, then select Properties in the pop-up context menu. The Attributes panel will pop up on the right side of the interface to display the attributes of the currently selected datasource.

Caution:

The Properties panel is a floating panel that can be used to display not only datasource attributes but also workspace and dataset attributes.

Parameter Description

Datasource

Select Datasource in the Properties panel, and the attributes of the datasource will be displayed in the below area.

  • Name: Displays the location where the datasource is stored. If the datasource is a file datasource, the full path of the datasource file will be displayed; if the datasource is a database datasource, the database server name where the datasource is located will be displayed.
  • Engine Type: Displays the spatial database engine type of the datasource. See the Datasource Overview for the engine type for datasource.
  • Alias: The name of the datasource displayed in the workspace. Default: name of the datasource saved in the local file folder.
  • Open Mode: Displays the open method used for the datasource: Read-only or Exclusive.
  • Change Password: Supports datasource password management. You need to enter the original password and the new password to confirm password modification.
Caution:
  • Only the displayed name of the datasource in the current workspace will be changed when modifying Alias.
  • Other alias modifying methods:
    • Workspace Manager -> Datasource node context menu -> Modify Alias
    • Workspace Manager -> Datasource node -> Shortcut F2
  • When modifying the alias, if there is an open Map, the program will pop up a warning prompt box showing "Renaming the datasource requires closing the maps that reference its datasets. Do you want to continue?". Modifying the alias will not execute unless the referencing maps are closed.
  • After renaming the datasource, the layer titles of associated datasets in the map will be automatically updated, reducing the workload of manually modifying layer titles.

Statistics

The Statistics area displays the statistical information of the datasets within the datasource.

  • Dataset Type: This column lists the types of datasets supported by SuperMap iDesktopX.
  • Statistics Result: Displays the count of various types of datasets in the corresponding datasource.
Caution:

The "sum" displayed under the Dataset Type column represents the total number of datasets contained in the datasource.

Coordinate system

Displays the coordinate system for the datasource, the geographic units, and the details for the datasource coordinate system. You can reset the coordinate systems, select coordinate system information from other data, export, import, and perform projection transformation in the toolbar.

  • Reset Coordinate System: Click this button to bring up the Coordinate System Settings dialog. See Projection Settings for details.
  • From Other Data: Click this button to pop up the Set Coordinate System dialog, where you can select to copy the coordinate system information of other data as the projection of the current datasource. The system provides From datasource and From Dataset and supports seven projection info files: TIFF File (*.TIF), SIT (*.SIT), Erdas Image File (*.IMG), ArcGIS Shapefile files (*.SHP), MapInfo Exchange Format (*.MIF), MapInfo TAB files (*.TAB), projection files (*.prj), and Projection Info File (*.XML).
  • Export Coordinate System: Current datasource projection can be exported as a Projection Info File (*.xml).
  • Import Coordinate System: You can import a customized Projection Info File (.xml) to set the coordinate system of the current datasource. A dialog box prompting "Do you want to apply datasource projection to all datasets?" helps to bulk modify the dataset's coordinate system.
  • Projection Transformation: Click this button to bring up the Batch Projection Transformation dialog. Refer to Convert Projected Coordinate System for details.
