For dataset types newly added in higher version software (such as LAS dataset, relation dataset, multi-point dataset added in V12), when opening these types of datasets in lower version software (such as 11i series versions), special compatibility handling logic will be executed. Details are as follows:
Function | In Lower Version Software | In Higher Version Software |
Data Source Opening | √ | √ |
Map Display | × | √ |
Analysis | × | √ |
Processing | × | √ |
Editing | × | √ |
dataset properties | × | √ |

Data Source Opening:
-
Data sources storing unsupported dataset types can still be opened normally.
-
Unsupported datasets will display their original dataset names, but the dataset node will show a special icon indicating that the type is unknown
.
-
The output window will display a prompt: "There are x dataset types unknown in the data source [datasource name]. Please open and use them in a higher version."
-
In the data source Properties->Statistics panel, unsupported dataset types will be counted in the "Unknown" category.
-
-
Functional Limitations:
-
Supports deleting datasets.
-
Does not support viewing in map/scene.
-
Does not support any editing, processing, or analysis functions.
-
Does not support viewing dataset properties.
-
Maps containing unsupported datasets can still be opened normally, and the layer manager will not display layers corresponding to these unsupported datasets.

Recommended Actions
-
To fully use all functions of these datasets, it is recommended to upgrade to a higher version of the software.
