Import Point-Attached External Models

Feature Description

The point-attached external models method for batch importing models imports models in the form of point data with external model files attached. The corresponding fields in the point dataset record the positioning information and name information of each model. The geographic reference origins of model objects imported in the point-attached external models form are not unified. Supported model file formats include *.osgb, *.s3m, *.s3mb, *.3ds, *.x, *.dxf, *.osg, *.obj, *.ifc, *.fbx, *.dae, *.stl, *.off, *.sgm, *.gltf, and *.flt.

Function Entry

  • Start tab ->Data Processing->Data Import->3D->Point-Attached External Models.
  • Toolbox->3D Data->Data Import->Import Point-Attached External Models tool.
  • Workspace Manager->Specify a datasource, right-click, and in the context menu, click Import 3D Model->Import Point-Attached External Models button.

Operation Instructions

  1. Open the Point-Attached External Models dialog box using one of the following methods:
    • In the Start tab, in the Data Processing group, click the Data Import drop-down button, and then click Point-Attached External Models to open the Import Point-Attached External Models dialog box.
    • Open the Toolbox->3D Data->Data Import->Import Point-Attached External Models tool to open the Import Point-Attached External Models dialog box.
    • In the Workspace Manager, specify a datasource, right-click, and in the context menu, click the Import 3D Model->Import Point-Attached External Models button to open the Import Point-Attached External Models dialog box.
  2. Set parameters as needed, including the source point dataset, associated fields, model file path, matrix field, rotation angle, scale factor, and other content. For specific parameters, see Import Point-Attached External Models.
  3. After setting the parameters, click the Import button to execute the model data import operation. Once the execution is completed, the specified model files will be imported in the form of external model files attached to the point dataset.
