Online Symbol Library

Feature Description

online services support accessing online symbol libraries from both SuperMap Online public cloud and iPortal private cloud data. It supports viewing and downloading symbol libraries from cloud services, and allows uploading and sharing local symbol library data.

View/Preview Online Symbol Library

  1. In the workspace manager, select SuperMap Online or iPortal resource directory. Click Online Symbol Library, the online symbol library data content will be displayed in the online data preview window.
  2. The Online Data window contains three tabs: Point Symbols, Line Symbols, and Fill Symbols. Different categories of symbol groups are displayed in respective tabs. Click any specific group to view its detailed list, and the Basic Information property box will appear on the right side of the window, displaying basic info of the group data. As shown below:

Download and Apply Online Symbol Library

  1. To download online symbols, check the corresponding checkboxes before the desired symbols in the preview window. You may also use the Select All and Select Reverse buttons to assist symbol selection. After selecting symbols, click the Download Symbol Library button at the bottom left to open the Task Manager dialog.
  2. Task Manager displays the total download progress in the first row, with a progress bar that updates dynamically. You can Pause All or Cancel All tasks during downloading. Individual download tasks are listed below, showing progress bars with Pause and Delete controls.
  3. If the Auto close after data transfer completes checkbox at the bottom of the Task Manager dialog is checked, the task manager will close automatically after all downloads finish. If unchecked, completed downloads will remain listed in the Finished section while active tasks disappear.
  4. Downloaded symbols will be saved in the local SuperMap symbol library. The Online subdirectory will appear under the root group in the selector, storing downloaded online symbols for convenient access.
  5. When system-provided point/line/fill symbols are insufficient during mapping, users can access SuperMap Online/iPortal resources using the above methods to download online symbols, then apply them via the selector.

Upload and Share Local Symbol Libraries

Supports uploading local symbol libraries to SuperMap Online or iPortal for sharing, enabling users to distribute custom map symbols and enrich mapping resources.

  1. Open application, expand the Resources node in workspace manager. Double-click the Marker Symbol Library subnode to open Marker Symbol Selector. Right-click selected symbols and choose Share to Online to open the Upload Symbol Library dialog.
  2. In Upload Symbol Library, provide the following information:
    • Name: Name of the uploaded symbol library.
    • Icon: Click the image box to select a representative picture (supported formats: *.png, *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.bmp).
    • Category: Classify the shared symbols for easier searching.
    • Label: Add multiple tags for symbol type identification and retrieval.
    • Details: Description of the uploaded symbol library for better understanding.
    • Upload Destination: Select SuperMap Online public cloud or iPortal private cloud via the dropdown.
    • Upload Directory: Choose or manage file directories - create new folders, delete existing files, or rename directories.
    • Private/Public: Set visibility permissions. Default is Private; check Public to make it visible to all users.
  3. After configuration, click Share to open the Task Manager dialog showing overall and individual upload progress, with controls like pause/cancel/delete.
  4. After successful sharing, the symbols can be browsed and downloaded from SuperMap Online/iPortal online symbol libraries by other users.
