Create Feature Dataset
Feature Description
In nautical chart production, feature datasets play a crucial role in effectively managing and maintaining feature objects. Based on specified feature object codes and dataset types, SuperMap supports creating new feature object datasets within editable chart groups.
The object data dictionary provided by SuperMap complies with IHO S-57 standards, containing feature object names, codes, types, definitions, and related remarks for convenient feature dataset creation. These datasets are widely used in feature identification, data updates, and chart sheet generation during nautical chart production, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.
Steps
- In Workspace Manager, select an editable chart group, navigate to Chart Tab -> Chart Data Management group -> New Group dropdown menu, choose Feature Dataset... to open Create Feature Dataset dialog.
- Select datasource: Under Datasources, click the dropdown menu to choose target datasource from open datasources in current workspace.
- Select chart group: Choose target editable chart group from Chart Group dropdown menu to store the new feature dataset.
- Select feature: Choose required feature object dataset type from Feature list.
- Review feature information: After selecting dataset type, Feature information displays details including feature name, code, and type. Click Object Type dropdown menu to select geometry type for the feature object.
- View definitions and remarks: Check feature definitions, references, and remarks in Description text box.
- Confirm creation: Click OK to create new feature object dataset in selected chart group.
