Urban Road Modeling (Dataset)

Usage Instructions

The Urban Road Modeling (Dataset) tool can generate urban road models or vector data such as road centerlines and crosswalks based on road line data and road style files.

The spatial reference of the result data depends on the source data: If the source data is in a projected coordinate system, the result data will be in planar coordinates without a spatial reference; if the source data is in a geographic coordinate system, the result data will uniformly adopt the WGS84 coordinate system (EPSG:4326).

This tool has been available since SuperMap iDesktopX 2026.

Parameter Descriptions

Parameter Name Parameter Description Parameter Type
Dataset: Select the source dataset representing road lines. Network dataset is recommended. Note: The source dataset must contain a road style field; to ensure successful data reading, it is recommended that the data source where the source dataset resides is writable. DatasetVector
Road Style File Select an XML file defining road styles. This file defines road elements (lanes, shoulders, etc.) and their attributes. The file can be generated using the Urban Road Design function. String
Road Style Field Select the field representing the road style in the source dataset. String
Road Name Field
(Optional)
Select the field representing the road name in the source dataset. String
Target Datasource Select the target datasource to store the generated urban road models or vector data such as road centerlines and crosswalks. Note: To ensure successful result storage, the target datasource must be writable. Datasource
Generate Road Model
(Optional)
Whether to generate the design results as corresponding model datasets, e.g., isolation belt models, motorway models, etc. If checked (default), corresponding model datasets will be generated in the specified datasource. Otherwise, no model datasets will be generated. At least one of the "Generate Road Model" and "Generate Road Vector" parameters must be checked. Boolean
Generate Road Vector
(Optional)
Whether to generate the design results as corresponding vector datasets, e.g., road centerlines, crosswalks, etc. If checked (default), corresponding vector datasets will be generated in the specified datasource. Otherwise, no vector datasets will be generated. At least one of the "Generate Road Model" and "Generate Road Vector" parameters must be checked. Boolean
